So, is all that we see, hear and feel ( under normal circumstances ) all there is? I don't know about you, but I love being scared, no doubt a carry-over from my younger, more adventurous days. Considering the possibility that another dimension parallels our own is something I find riveting, though not necessarily genuine. Personally, I'm of the mindset that not everything is explainable regardless of our attempts to identify it. It is this 'unknown' that draws me within the circle of curiosity. Anyone else have a similar take?

Not too long ago, on the CoastToCoastAM radio show, they played these recordings. They had gone to places like cemeteries and turned up the gain on the recorder. Upon playback, you could here these eerie voices speaking.
Young childrens' voices. Old peoples voices. They played about 20 examples of what the recorder had picked up. lol. After that, I had to keep the lights on so I could fall asleep that night.
I love that type of stuff.

For a century, my family owned a cemetery. Their house was at the top of it. Many years ago, my aunt and uncle swear that one night they saw a ghostly figure of a man swinging a lantern back and forth. They said the man looked more like a hollow outline, but the lantern was definitely there swinging back and forth in the air. They stayed inside until it disappeared.
My great grandfather lived there until his death. In his last days, circa 1930, he'd sit up in his bedroom smoking his pipe.
By the 70's, it had basically become a closed graveyard. There were some family articles still in the house, and we had the house wired with an alarm. My brother trekked out to it to prepare for its sale to a new owner. Neighborhood kids flocked around my brother asking him what he was doing. He explained to them that he was collecting some old family possessions, since we were selling it. The kids asked, "what about the old man?" My brother asked who they were talking about. The kids said often at night an old man sits at the upper window smoking a pipe, and watching them while they're playing on the grounds.
I was young when I spent any nights there, and the only thing I personally remember about the house was all the noise it made as we tried to sleep.

I've seen a ghost of my dad when he was still alive! He was a volunteer fireman, but not at this time. One winter morning 1979ish about 3:00 a.m., I got up, opened my door but my parent's door opened right before mine did, dad *flew* down the steps and out the front door with almost a slam. That's what made me stop and wonder what was going on, think wow, dad is in a hurry, must be a fire. The next morning I asked my mom where dad had to go. He never went anywhere she said and he was still upstairs sleeping. I thought she didn't know he left until I asked him too. Nope, he went no where.
Then who shut the front door?!
I've seen many things that are unseen by others. I'm sure it's because I'm open to it. If I didn't want to see anything, then I wouldn't.

When I was about 10 yeas old, I ran into something/someone in my house late one night. I got up to go to the bathroom. It was about 3 AM, and the whole house was dark. I saw this shadowy figure in the corner in the hallway, standing not more than a few feet away from me. Needless to say, I didn't stick around long enough to investigate. I was in my room with the door locked in 2 seconds flat! Gee, I haven't thought of that in years.
The day my father died I went outside late that night and simply screamed and cried for him to come to me. But he didn't.

The other side(ghosts, dead relatives, heaven) are here with us they are just vibrating at a different speed (much faster) and therefore we can't see them unless they want us to (by slowing down their vibration)
Have you ever walked into a room to find an object that wasn't there a minute ago or smell something you can't define or hear various noises you can't make sense of.
They are here among us letting us know they still care and love us you just have to open up and tune in to it.
There are some however that wish to cause fear as well.
I can vacuum a rug making sure it's clean then turn around to put the vacuum away come back and find a dime in the middle of the rug.(it's my dad saying hi)
It's ironic that there's this whole other world (our home) is right here but we can't see it and that there are for the majority friends and family that have passed on just waiting for us to pick up the phone (faith) so to speak, and let them into our lives.

I still wait for my Dad to visit me as well. I can't understand why he won't. But then again, I've also told him that I don't want him to do this during the night. Can I be that picky about about his visit?

Well, come to think of it, a few weeks ago I had a dream that my father called up on the phone, like he used to do, to say "Hi". I could hear his voice plainly, in my ear, through the phone's handset. He said something like, "Hi Shush (he called me Shush), I just called up to see how you're doing."

I lost a close friend when we were teenagers. It's something I couldn't accept. About ten years later, out of nowhere, I had a dream. He came to tell me to stop suffering about and that he is fine. He couldn't chat long and was eager to get back to whatever it was he was doing. I know it could've just been a dream, but because of the dream he had this calming effect on me that still holds.

Cindy and Sheila, I am sorry that you both still feel the loss of your dads so deeply. I don't know what your level of "psychic ability" is, but I know that sometimes I get a visit in the most simple terms. I'll think about my Aunt Betty (my fave) and get a chill down my spine, and my dad will call out of the blue (her brother). Sometimes I just think about an old friend for no apparent reason, then realize that it is his birthday or something. Sometimes it is much more concrete, like a dream in which I am aware that the person is dead, and we have a conversation within the context of that knowlege. This sort of thing happens to me a lot. The "trick" is to be completely open to what you experience. It may not be much of a message, just a simple "I'm here" from someone that you love. Trust your instincts...if you think that you have been visited, you probably have.

For Sschiffman and Cinderella - No experience is visited upon you since your soul is responsible for creating them, so you may or may not see your loved ones depending on whether your soul wants to.There's always a spiritual lesson involved that we can't comprehend on this level.
But keep asking not demanding say, hey Dad how's it going I love you and thanks for keeping an eye on me and hopefully some day when I'm ready I'll see you.
When I mean "see" it could be a noise,a warm feeling,a dream,a coin or a ring anything for the moment that makes you think about your loved one.
They can communicate in many subtle ways.
So keep trying in a passive loving tone and hopefully it will happen for you.

I believe the physical, material world is but a shadow of what the "Spirit World" is. I believe that this "Spirit World" is a parallel universe, occasionally crossing over into ours, and that spirits of all kinds are all around us.
Life in this world is basically a test, to see how much we love, can overcome diifculties, and, above all, to trust God, as we understand Him. The time here is not the time there, for there is no real time there. And it can be good or bad, depending on one's relationship with God. There is light and darkness, or what some call heaven and hell. There is also a grey area, or what some might call purgatory. The goal of every person is to be in the world of light, with God, and with those we've known and loved in this life and throughout eternity. For in this world there is only love, peace, happiness, and joy.

My husband booked The Honeymoon Suite at a haunted inn in Natchez, MS. Apparently, this home was used as a hospital during the Civil War. He showed me articles of sightings at this home.
At first, I was excited about the whole thing. But as the time to go there grew closer, I became more and more apprehensive. He was so looking forward to it, that I didn't have the heart to chicken out. I did make him promise that he would never leave me alone while we were there. He would have to escort me to the bathroom and everything.
Well, it was just a few days before our trip. I was standing infront of my dresser mirror, brushing my hair, kind of daydreaming. I thought to myself, if I saw a ghosts reflection in this mirror right now I would just die! I thought, if I should have a ghostly encounter at this inn, I'll never be able to be home alone by myself ever again. I finally had to cave and tell Steve I absolutely cannot bring myself to stay there.

Has anyone ever heard that story about the ghost that repeatedly raped a woman. The woman had bruises on her body and everything. The woman finally moved to get away from the ghost. But the ghost followed her and continued the assaults. Does anyone remember this supposedly true story?

I remember that Sheila...If it is true, then it must be rare. I have never heard of anything like that since, and I grew up in a 'haunted' house. Anybody who spent more than 4-5 hours at my childhood home can verify this. Even the great disbelievers became true believers eventually. I can remember my Pastor coming to dinner for the first time...he walked through the door...stopped...said, "There is a presence here."

It was based on a true story, the woman moved to Texas. Is this the story, Sheila?
We lived in my grandfather's house in Brooklyn for a while. I was around 10. I was sitting in the livingroom watching TV and saw something out of the corner of my eye. When I turned my head, I saw "the ghost" of the house. She was a girl with dark hair....a young woman....with a pink, baby doll nightgown. I knew instantly that it was a ghost because there was no one else in the house besides my mom and I. She just walked into the bathroom....that's it!! I was stunned, but not surprised. Many people in my family had heard her in the house, usually on the 2nd floor above us, for many years. I think my cousin's husband was one of the few that actually saw her. She walked into his bedroom one night. I guess he was sleepy and thought it was his wife (my cousin), but when he questioned why she was standing there, she just left the room.
My sister's dog used to go up to the bathroom door and just bark - frantically! This was a different bathroom on the second floor. When I saw the dog do this for myself one day, after hearing about it for so long, I wouldn't use that bathroom anymore. My feeling was that she died in that bathroom somehow and I didn't want to chance seeing any reinactment of any kind!
That house is gone now. A builder bought it and tore it down. Just about everyone in my family lived in it at one time or another. The house was in our family for many years. I believe my grandparents bought it when they first got married. I sometimes wonder if the house not being there anymore set that girl free.
We have a ghost here where I live now too. He's friendly though and very quiet. I'm the only one who can sense his presence now, but my son saw him when he was 5. He called out "Dad?" early one morning, when he saw a man walking the length of the house. My son didn't see me in the living room feeding the baby, but I did see my son afraid to follow the figure...who wasn't answering him. I already knew we had a ghost, because I had seen the silouette of a man entering my daughter's bedroom one evening. That's the first time I had actually seen anything since that time when I was ten. Now I can only sense when someone is around. Of course, my son did not see my husband, who had left for work an hour earlier.
There was a block of time when my daughter was a baby, that she would wake up crying in her crib....around 10 pm...every night. Not just hungry, but startled and afraid. She would go right back to sleep, but she could see him...a few times she was looking right past me, as if someone else was there. He's definitely a friendly presence, otherwise I would have sold the house by now! LOL!

It was Barbara Hershey who was the victim. Kind of a good movie.
Well, my night wasn't as I had expected. First off, we didn't go to La Laurie Mansion: that has already been investigated by this team (called ISPS). We went to a house that had been abandoned and was being renovated (they were doing a lousy job). Apparently, as we efounf out after our investigation, the hosue was built in the early 1900's and used for a variety of things, such as a brothel, saloon, grocery store, drug store, and boarding house. My team got a few temperature fluctuations and some spikes on the EMF meter (when we were sure we weren't pointing at power lines), but no empathich experiences, no crossing of the L-rods, thus no spirits answering our questions. Yeah, they were answering the questions of the other team. They had empathic experiences, crossing of the rods, major shifts in temp., and the husband and wife who were 'sensitive' sure hit a couple nails on the head, such as when they were going down the stairs, the wife got the feeling of limping, then the husband got a feeling of a male presence, and there was a teenager who got the impression of someone in the military. Well, there was a tenant who was a longshoreman who had bad legs. Huh. They also got some impressions of a fire and children and dancing women, which were true. Maybe my team had too-high expectations. The only thing out of the ordinary that happened was my flashlight went out on its own; my leader said it could've been a bulb. Just like him to crush my dream. I like to think that the energy was draining the batteries, which often happens in a house with activity.
They're going to do a new hosue next year, and they might even do an overnight investigation. This has not daunted me or dampened my belief--I just remember what the other team was saying, and that alone convinces me that the house had something in there. They just didn't want to talk to me. Waaahhh!

And heartofthesunrise had it nailed, it's Barbara Hershey. Yes, Sheila, I'd say DON'T see it, it's really ... gross because the rapes get graphic and in front of her children at times. Once, a boyfriend comes in the bedroom, she's been stripped in seconds and pinned down and invisible hand imprints are groping her all over. Very nasty, then if you had the hint of truth to it, ... poor woman!

That's a bummer Yvette better luck next time.
I thought The Entity was a pretty silly movie.
We had a friendly knocker spirit in our house in Albuquerque. It would always start thumping around when it was time for me to go pick up Alex from kindergarten.
Most poltergeist aren't really ghosts but are associated with having a teenager in the house. Cassie was a teenie bopper at that time but know for a fact that she was not in the house when it would happen. She was at school. It didn't like Patrick either it was very still when he was home in the middle of the day. He still thinks I'm nuts.

I know some will likely poo-poo this one, but it is an authentic tale if ever there was one. Please do not dismiss the following as an overactive imagination for every detail remains firmly implanted in my memory as if it happened yesterday.
In my neighborhood we were blessed with the kindest of mailmen, a congenial middle-aged man who excluded no one from his radiant smile which he freely provided to all whom he met. He also lived right in our neighborhood, three doors down, in fact. His name was Mr. Demorak, an unusual name I thought, even back then. His presence evoked images of "Pleasantville" to be honest as he was always so...well, pleasant.
Well, I had experienced a typical day of playing hard to the point of genuine exhaustion and at the ripe old age of eight...well, to expend that kind of energy took an entire day of rustling about. Sleep had finally overcome me and as I lay asleep in the bed, the rumbling of an approaching thunderstorm penetrated my unconscious mind, alarming me to which I arose quickly. The rain was coming down so hard that the drops were literally pelting the glass on my window...or at least, I thought that's what it was. Upon closer examination, my youthful form slithering out of the bed for a peek, I saw something in shadow that scared me so intensely that I started screaming at an intensity great enough to rouse the dead from a nearby cemetary. To my utter amazement, in my window was the figure of what I presumed to be a man wearing a hat like that of a mailman, faceless and motionless...staring with eyes not detectable. The branding iron of fear forever emblazoned that image in my mind. There he was, 'staring', rain literally pouring from his hat brim. A dark hand slowly rose from his left to gently rap on the window...twice, two times more than what I needed to be sure. Suddenly, with the clap of another roll of thunder, he disappeared.
The very next day, after my parents had endeavored to assuage my concerns and fears with the tried and true, "It was just a nightmare, son." , I found I was able to relate the entire story, minus the dyspnea and shaking. Still, I was given the same assuring line from the parent units. However, within an hour or so, Ida Slate, one of our less than desireable neighbors dropped in for a visit only to relay a rather interesting bit of information. It seems as though Mr. Demorak, our beloved mailman, had suffered a fatal heart attack at approximately 3:30 am, only hours earlier. Chills ran up my spine for even at so young an age, I was righteously able to perceive what I was sure was a link. Let's call it a 'goodbye' of sorts. I will always miss him.

I do believe in the supernatural. What I saw 10 years ago or so was not my imagination. Once I was working in a warehouse in new york and it was about 6 or 7 in the morning. I was waiting for my employees to show up and it was very quiet at the time. This warehouse was very old, it was built in the late 1800's. At this time I started to feel very strange.I felt like time had stopped.A feeling like I was trapped in a timeless void, yet I was very calm and relaxed. At this time I looked to my left and down the hall was a poltergeist of some type. It looked like smoke or fog that would fluctuate in and out of a shape of a human. It would oscillate, sway and move on its own.It had its own movement and action.Yet I did not feel any fear,I felt like I couldn't move at all. This entity or ghost moved its way down the hall right at me until it was about five feet in front of me, then it levitated its way into another room about four feet from me. At this time all the machines in that room went on and there was no one in there. For weeks after this happened I felt very, very strange. After this experience, I began to question others who had worked in the building. Several others, plus the UPS driver, admitted to seeing strange things, too. One of these people told me that, years ago, a security guard was shot and killed in the area where the entity was that I saw. To this day, the image haunts me. And by the way, I was completely sober -- not under the influence of any substance -- when this happened.

I was raised to just accept the supernatural as being just as real as gravity. (I was actually talking to my friendboy about this stuff last night.) See, I've experience angels all my life and I think that it's something that's just as natural as the people around me. I don't believe in anything, but I know that certain things are real -- in the same way we know that gravity is real; you can't necessarily see it, but the effects of it are around you every single moment of your life.
And we have a ghost in my apartment. She's not very active because the place is also filled with angels, but upon occasion my room mate Audrey will be sitting on the couch reading and the ghost will come and stand across the room and look at her. I've never seen her with my eyes, but I've sensed her and had to tell her I didn't want to play. Usually she doesn't bug me, but I sometimes get nervous when I have to get up and pee in the middle of the night.
I grew up in a haunted house, this isn't new.
