The future is, at first, a near-eternal promise
Hope abounds in its timeless allure
Dreams woven from the soft fabric of bliss
carries us, shields us, provides a cure

Abruptly, age rouses us from this dreamy trance
The years rudely merge and become as one
Seconds are lost and the hours they dance
to a tune too fast, many things left undone

Your sons and daughters they set their sails
Their compass lies in your words and deeds
You pray in earnest they avoid your travails
Worry, the deep wound, profusely bleeds

Heartless glass now distorts your perception
What was once a peach appears but a prune
Mortality lurks in the light, exposing deception
The 'infinite' sand has blown from your dune

Unto the ears of the wise I say this to you
Be mindful of those simple grains of sand
as the trials of life obscure them from view
Sense each one as it slips through your hand

Moments are not always of your making it's true
Still, living not lamenting is the righteous way
Passion is a knife in the heart of the mood of blue
Waiting is reflecting with very little to say...
at the end of the day

I'm not much of a poetry person, but I think that is very nice. Thanks for that.

I see a person waiting to come of age and finally realizing that life has not quite passed by as much as how beautiful today is.
