Hello fellow Yes-fans :disco:
great to see there's some place for us who possess the great music of Jon Anderson and co. other than a mental institute :offtopic:
Anyhoo I'm here to talk about :yess: so let's get started.
I always knew about Yes but I had never listened to them until last year.
My sister was a huge fan of the film Almost Famous (if you haven't seen it then check it out it's fabulous) and she bought the soundtrack.
One Day I borrowed the soundtrack and listened to it and on the soundtrack there was a composition with the odd name "I've Seen all good People" and was performed by a group of musicians with the equally odd name "Yes".
I really liked the song but it would be some time before I would start listening to Yes for real.
My dad is a classical guitarist and one of his classical guitarist friends was a big Yes-fan and when he found out that I liked I've Seen All Good People he gave me a copy of the Yes Symphonic Live DVD.
I thanked him for it put it on the shelf and it collected dust for the months to come.
One day while I was looking through my DVD collection I saw it and thought "hummmm haven't seen this yet, maybe I should check it out".
I was not dissapointed. I digged every song on the DVD but my favorite was And You And I, an absolutley fantastic composition.
The guy who gave me the DVD (Birgir is his name, I'm from Iceland we have weird names back there) loaned me The Ladder, Magnification, Tales from Topographic Oceans and House Of Yes and I loved them...especially Tales.
Now I'm 15 and Yes is my favorite band and not a day goes by unless I listen to one Yes-song.
My other favorite bands and musicians are: The White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Simon and Garfunkel, The Clash, Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Sex Pistols, David Bowie, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Sigur-rós, Donovan The Kinks, Black Sabbath and Metallica
Hope you enjoyed reading this and have a good nootch

Hi Jubei!
So very nice to meet you!
I think it is so cool that you caught a bit of a Yes song in a movie, and now they are your favorit band! And I am always impressed when younger folks love Yes, given much of the popular music today. But then again, hey, you come from good genes, what with you Dad being a classical guitarist and all.
Welcome to the site. There is much Yes to talk about.
Make yourself at home and have fun!

he he he
allgoodeys have you ever seen Kevin smith's films?
They are all linked with the duo Jay and Silent Bob Silent Bob is called that because he doesn't open his mouth unless he has something really importnant to say wich is the polar opposite who talks like crazy and is always saying the word "nootch".
I think that word is funnny as hell (I have a VERY weird sense of humour sometimes) that's why I used it. If you knew me personally you would find out that I use the word a LOT.
Anyhoo if you haven't seen any of the Kevin Smith films I recommend his first film "Clerks" it's one of my favorite films ever.

Hey Jubei! It really is a treat to see young fans. I know I've had one hell of a ride with YES for over 25 years since I've known them. It's been a blast. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of their music as I continue to get everyday. YES really is awesome.
Hey to Stevehoweworshipu, too. Nathan, that's one of my favorite names, along with Ian.
Looking forward to reading your posts.

A warm welcome from me, too. You don't find too mayn young Yes fans these days. All the parents on this site seem to do their best, though to keep the Yes spirit going for generations to come. I'm only 16 myself. I'm quite amazed you're English is so good and you also speak Japanese? Whoa, really impressive.
Only a few days ago I saw Almost Famous for the first time and Ireally liked it. That movie's got the best soundtrack I've ever heard:-)
Hope you enjoy your time on this site

Hello everyone !! - just registered on the site
Basically I'm a music fan living in north east England looking to communicate with other fellow "proggies". I love Yes, early Genesis, Marillion, ELP, Transatlantic, Tull (especially in the 1970s). I like all sorts of music basically but prog is my genre.
Cheers, Garbs :git[1]:

Hey...welcome
Think you're gonna like this site. I like a lot of the same. Yes, Tull, ELP, Led Zep, Rush and the list continues. I'm basically a really big Yesfan. I recently got a box set for a gift. The name is "In a Word"...good stuff. 1969-. I guess it's one of the best albums I've heard. I would have to say Yessongs and Relayer are probably my favorites, which is unfair to the guy's, because all there stuff is GREAT. Well gotta go for now, but once again...Welcome fellow Yeshead!

SallyKhatru thanks for your kind words (you made me blush :D ).
I don't really speak japanese, i'm just a HUGE fan of japanese cinema so I toss a little bit of japanese I've heard from movies here and there when I write or talk :).
My nick "Jubei Ninpucho" is the name of the main character from the japanese film "Ninja Scroll" one of my alltime favorite movies.

Actually I think it's "domo arigato wakarimasu." But who's quibbling, I took Japanese an eon ago.
Love your list of faves. Glad to have another Bowie fan. I stumped the folks on the "name that lyric" thread recently with a quote from "The Bewlay Brothers." Since you like Yes and Metallica, check out Dream Theater if you haven't already.
I'm also a HUGE Kevin Smith fan, I even loved "Mallrats" and "Dogma." But my absolute favorite is "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." If you haven't rented the DVD, get it and check out the deleted scenes that were too dirty to put in the film. HILARIOUS!
Welcome to the site. Post early and often.

Well a girl I know went to Japan as an exchange-student and each time she has to thank me for something she always says "Domo arigato gase masta".
Also in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away (an absolutely wonderufl film) the main character says "Domo arigato gase masta" and the subtitles said "Thank you very much".
Haven't checked out Dream Theater but I'm going to, trust me, they're pretty popular here in Iceland.
My favorite is Clerks, my second favorite is Dogma and Chasing Amy (can't decide) then there's Mallrats and Jay and Silent Bob all of them RAAAAAWK.
Kevin Smith is a total genius at writing funny dialogue.

I looked it up. We're both right.
Your "thank you very much" is PLAIN form Japanese, what you'd say to a friend or an equal. Mine is POLITE (desu masu) form.
It's a very bizarre language!
I loved "Spirited Away," btw. Great film. I love it when her parents turn into pigs.
Anyway, check out Dream Theater! They RAWK!
"Chasing Amy" made me cringe a bit because Ben Affleck's character was SO stupid! I still liked it a lot though.
I did love "Clerks." One of the best, if not THE best, ultra-low-budget film ever made.

Hey Jubei!
I'm a Kevin Smith fan as well (Favorite film of his here is 'Chasing Amy')!
How cool of your Dad's friend to give you the Symphonic DVD! If you think of it, tell him about Yesfans: We'd love to meet him too! Anyhow, my daughter is about your age (I know... I'm an old fart, but a cool old fart! :D), she's a huge Yesfan: great taste in music is timeless and ageless!
It's great meeting you, and have fun my friend!
