this is where they really took off and all the songs are great and it includes their best song yours is no discrace, but again with alot of their remasters the singles are not needed but the studio version of clap is good as i guess they figured the live version was better and used that version instead of this, also this is the only remastered release that i have that gives the timings of the original album songs.

It's cerainly the start of something great. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to get to know their music. Although I like Clap, I think somehow it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the songs. It's a little bit too boogie-woogie.

I think Clap was ment as an introduction for Steve Howe, to give the listeners an idea of what he was like. I can see your point though RABARKS.

I think this is as good a place to start with Yes. It's probably ties with Close To The Edge as the most consistent album they've done. All the tracks have a clear purpose and identity. Good one to recommend to potential converts.

It dosnt have a great deal of long songs for Yes, apart from Yours is no disgrace. Someone new to Yes would not neccessarily have the patience for CTTE or Awaken, so it is a good starting point. I think they find their sound a lot more on this album, because of the introduction of Steve Howe.

For me Yes became Yes when Steve joined the band. What a guitarist, a genius!

I think this album has the most number of classic yes songs on it, in comparison to others, such as Ive seen all good people, clap, starship trooper and Yours is no disgrace.

I started off with YES when I bought the "Don`t kill the whale" single second hand in 1981. I asked my older brother what album it was from, he said "Tormato" but that`s not so good, get "Close to the edge". So at age 14 I purchased CTTE....it went right over my head (I liked RUSH at the time and thought THEIR music was complicated!).
So I guess I realized YES may not be for me...
My friend bought some YES albums in early 1983 (before 90125) and I tried again to get into this `odd` band..."Going for the one" didn`t do it, "Yesshows" just confused me...
THEN i tried one last album...."The YES Album"
LOVED IT!
To me this is a wonderful, ebulliant, joyful album full of songs that showed how `pop` music could be...I still love it even after 22 years!
...and yes, I managed to fathom out YES music after that...luv `em and proud of it!
