So what is your favourite moment on CTTE? Mine's in the title track when Rick pulls the Hammond solo of in "Seasons of Man"...brilliant.

My favorite moment in CTTE has to be live when Chris plays a beautiful little solo right before "In her white lace"

This is a nice thread with good posts.
My favourite moment in CTTE is probably the spine-tingling harmonic vocals near the end of the song when they sing "Now that you're whole".

Just after the organ/moog solo when there is three hits of the synth that sounds a bit like a bell and the main melody returns but is being played with thicker chords and sounds really messed up. (the bit on the symphonic dvd when the orchestra members start waving thier instruments about for the first time - anyone else find this very disrespectful?)

The whole piece is moving, but the simple keyboards just before "In her white lace..." always seems to grab me. I guess it's because the vocal passage that follows always hypnotizes me, no matter how many times I hear it.

My favorite part is after the opening guitar solo in 6/8 and the bass arpeggio goes down, the main theme comes in.

For me, it has to be In Seasons Of The Man, when Jon starts to sing "On the hill we viewed the silence of the valley..." At this point of the song I am usually swaying in extacy, it is just so incredible...! And then, of course, the final chorus is just about ready to take my breath away for good...
But really, the entire epic is mind-blowing, there is nothing quite like it, I believe. The worst background music in the world, simply because it engages one's mind completely! LOL
I'm so happy this song has become part of my life -just about one year ago now, in fact. And it will surely stay with me for the rest of my life, too!

For me, it's during "I Get Up I Get Down"...after Jon sings it for the final time in that section, and Rick's church organ enters, large as life. Even moreso on Yessongs, when it's the whole band that enters there!
---Matt, who wouldn't mind it if every Yesshow included this epic...

Try and get a hold of the Holmdel 04 weed from this tour. Rick's organ here is INCREDIBLE sounding. You can feel the building shaking, it's so powerful. Probably the best I've ever heard this section. It helps a lot that this is a fantastic sounding weed, too... A+. Anyone else heard this?

I'd have to say my favorite part of CttE is Wakeman's organ solo in I Get Up. I also like the end where the music fades out and you start to hear the birds and water sounds again.

For me, it's a toss up between Rick's simple but powerful pipe organ solo during "I get up, I get down", and the fantastic buildup that occurs during "I shook my head and smiled a whisper, knowing all about the place. On the hill we viewed the silence of the valley..." Wow, after that part I need to smoke a cigarette! And I would be hard pressed to identify exactly where this happens, but I seem to remember a few of Chris's bass parts taking the form of a fugue - theme and variation - and it's almost buried in the song, but it adds to the complexity and ties everything together. (Can you tell CTTE is my favorite Yes piece?)

"I Get Up, I Get Down" is very nice. The simplicity of it is a great contrast to the insanity of the rest of the piece.
"On the hill, we viewed the silence of the valley" is also great (see my sig). Sometimes by time we get to that part, it's such a release, I'm practically in tears.
But my favorite "moment" is The Hammond Solo From Hell! I love that solo. I always sing along with Yes, and scat or whistle with the instrumentals, and man, my lips are hurtin' by time that solo is over (I whistle that one). It's actually a relief when it's over and Jon relates the colour to the scenes, and smiles a whisper and all that other wonderful nonsense.

When Wakeman first unleashes the pipe organ during 'I Get Up I Get Down' it still sends chills up and down my spine.
From Birds To Birds
Couldn'thave put it better myself.
If I had to narrow it down to just a single point it would be when what I call the cacophony finishes and you get the orchestral type voices
"Daaaaaa Daa"
You know what I mean.!!!
