Here is the last of the series of 3 called "Tie Scrapers" this one is called
"Ties Square". I painted it as I watched the ball drop on New Year's Eve. and selected the ties and attached them to the canvas.
I have some news to share with you all. Next month will be my first gallery show. This is a big deal to me because I have been doing art shows but they are at art markets, not a full on gallery show. My clay will be featured and a few of my paintings. What started off in 2002 as a hobby after my daughter graduated from high school turned out to be more than I imagined.
I'm nervous.

Patty, that is so cool! I love the Tie Scrapers.
That's a very original idea.
Good luck with your gallery show. I would be so excited.
Someday we'll be able to say, "Gee I knew her when..."

Red Mesa Clay Mask - if you look real close you can see the scroll work on the face. It almost looks like Battenberg lace.

Awwww Cindy, thanks so much. I had the jitters when I was asked to do a show LAST minute and it was for observation by a city official to see what the artists could pull off in a short amount of time. Thanks to our dear JJ Geers here on YESFANS I was able to pull off a nice presentation and asked to return again in March. I was also asked to do a show at a gallery the same weekend! So we are hanging the gallery on Wednesday and setting up for the other show on Friday in March. I'm extending myself for a reason thinking the Gods of Art must be calling for a reason.

FANTASTIC,...my eyes were drawn to the bright crowd and right up the middle. At the top, I went counter clockwise as the tie stripes guides my eyes.
I did a few laps around and started again.

Oh Cindy my hands are stained I have done so much red clay. My cuticles are red, my nail beds are red, my finger pads are red. This red is a darker shade of baseball mound red.
I just finished four more masks and a fish today. She is polynesian, I have one mask jeering at me so I will counter that with a tragedy mask and make tragedy and comedy as a set. I am inspired to do more...decided to create a punk guy with a mohawk spike, Dorthy, the lion, tin man and scarecrow, and for some reason I am compelled to pull from this red earth Asian faces.

Meanwhile, the view outside my window. This was awesome.

I know. When I worked with it my hands were stained. I would wash them until they were irritated.

Yeah, you know the first two years all I worked with was the white clay but my friends like the red mesa and after it's fired it looks great. I tend to agree with them.
What did you do in clay?

Just some simple pots and vases, and I did do a mask but it was horrible. :lmao:
