Hiya people, now come on folks don't be shy, are you one of lifes Dreamers or are you infact a Realist.
I deal, as do many, if not probably all of us, with lifes burning issues. Often with a degree of frustration, sometimes fear driven adrenalin and sometimes comfortably.
But I have to confess to being somewhat of a Dreamer. Many of my ideal worldly things are so much nicer than in reality. If I had a pound ( dollar ) for every dreamy thought that passes through my mind I would be a very wealthy Yesman.
Why is it so easy for some of us to slip into the realms of dreamscape and why do we do it. My theory is that life dishes up some pretty crap times for us and we just like to think of nice things. Silly fool or just a realistic dreamster!

I was always a dreamy-escapist up until I was 12, when my father passed away. That's when reality hit and my life really changed. Then I fell in love at 15 and it was back to la-la land for me. Since then, I fluctuate between the two modes as needed. The problem now is, the two intersect at times. I can be very analytical when solving problems personal and business, but I can get clouded with idealistic dreams (or pessimistic ones) and logic flies out the window. Nice thread!

Hey, nice reply. Kinda sums up what I was trying to say in many ways. Fluctuating between realism and fantasy is the key I guess. In our ideal world we would........but in reality we..........yeah I like that answer. GOOD ONE YESSYADA.

Yeah, I can be a total realist. But when I'm working with other musicians, it brings out the dreamer part of me. Some of them come true while we're playing. The trick for me is to remember what I was playing, so I can have some hope of recreating it. Dreams can bring about magic, and magic can be real sometimes. I love it !

i am definitely a dreamer, though some amazingly real events have changed my life since i was a kid.
i just won't give up on the dream of love, happiness, contentment.
the only things that really matter.

I tend to make decisions with my heart, then spend hours trying to rationalize those decisions in my head!

Yes, I'm a dreamer, and although I realize that things happen in reality that can alter our dreams, it doesn't stop me from dreaming! It would be a sad world indeed if we didn't have our dreams . . .

Dreams...Like Fantasy's?

Yeah all the time!

For me, well, I just do it, because, it really brings out what you really want. Your greedy side. Or some other dreams are you talking about?

If I could see something
If I could be someone
If I could do anything

I always liked George Harrison's view on this :
The Inner Light

Without going out of my door
I can know all things of earth
With out looking out of my window
I could know the ways of heaven

The farther one travels
The less one knows
The less one really knows

Arrive without travelling
See all without looking
Do all without doing

I wish that I could really tell you
all the things that happen to me
and all that I have seen...
a world full of people their hearts full of joy,
cities of light with no fear of war,
and thousands of creatures with happier lives,
and dreams of a future with meaning and no need to hide.

Oh, keep it dark...

Realist I'm afraid
I tend to make decisions from my head
but I like dreams and empathize with dreamers

I'm a dreamer. (Big surprise, huh!)

Reality leaves a lot to the imagination. ~ John Lennon

I am a true dreamer. The world needs them! Lets live in an "I-mag-I-nation". When we are dreaming...we are imagining....no? This is how we bring things into manifestation. We dream them into reality. John Lennon's song Imagine sums it up real good. Keep dreaming everyone.....we can collectively bring peace on earth and make this mother a beautiful place forever! Next time someone says to you ... "oh you're just a dreamer!" smile at them and say thank you.

I'd like to be more of a dreamer, but life keeps *****slapping me back into reality.

WOW! Great thread!

I am a self realist, that does not mean I do not have dreams. I have great dreams and many fantasy dreams!
However, I realize that what is here now is HERE NOW! That is no dream, in fact it can be THOUGHT a nightmare.
I am responsible for my thinking, fantasy or death, love or hate, hot dog or tofu, whatever I choose is reality and that does not lie. It is what it is no matter what story I think it or wish it to be!
My peace is ending my attachment to my thinking!
Consider or think about this question...
"Who would you be without your story?"
I am peaceful and in the present without my story, I can be who I am really. At peace with reality, OR not!

The only thing that keeps me from completely floating away is that my mate is even more of a dreamer than I am and that has forced me to become a little more realistic so that bills get paid and junk like that. I like to paint realistically though.

I'm either an overly optimistic Realist or an extremely pessimistic Dreamer...
I haven't quite figured it out myself yet.

Put it this way...
I always hope for the best, expect the worst,
and end-up somewhere in between -- extremely disappointed, yet still thankful
