As I understand it, there is a rumor that Trevor may be joining the band for the summer tour. My question is this: How likely is it that we have an opportunity to see both Rabin and Howe perform on this tour? Certainly nothing against Steve Howe, but hasn't he been known to be a bit stingy when it comes to the guitar spotlight? I hope I'm wrong, because seeing the two of them jam would just SOUND!

R'tanys, you've been gone too long. You have got to join our party in the Yes Music area. We have been involved in almost WW3 over this very issue (rabin's return).

And regarding Steve being stingy, if so, it's only because he's smart. Now, that's just my opinion.

Hmmm... I don't know how smart it is of Steve to be so posessive of the guitar spot, since IMHO, regardless of who shares the stage with him, most, if not all fans will transfix their eyes to watching the master's fingers fly. He's got nothing to worry about. They're both extremely talented and I think the difference in styles could only paint a broader musical picture.
Incidentally, I have been checking out WW III. It's making my head hurt.

Not so much a question of whether Steve wishes to share the spotlight - he almost certainly doesn't, and who can blame him - but more a question of what will draw more fans in.

A Union2, as we have taken to calling it, may be seen by Jon and Chris as a way of recovering lost audience. Right now, the fan base for Yes has shrunk to a disheartening level. Whether Steve wishes to share the spotlight or not, he and the others probably are seeing the use of alumni as a way of boosting audience ...

Good for you R'tanys! That means you have a heart. I like that in a Yes Fan.

The personnal in this summer's tour is up in the air at the moment, however it has been assumed that if Trevor and Rick come back, Steve will also be there.

Last summer Yes played at such a high level that the chanch for a breakthru was in their hands-so what do they do?Blow it again by delaying the album (what promotion-I've seen exsacly none). They have a chance to succed by the power of their music alone(ie continueing the Magnification tour)but no here we go whith another classic dumb yes move-first of all,it's taken them 5 years (since OYI tour)to get to the level they are playing at now and noone is going to just walk in the door and hang whith them musicly.Rick wakeman (whom I love but don't listen to because he stopped getting better years ago-see KEYS)is not going to knock himself out to get in shape for Yes-he plays with lightweights because noone is going to tell him to get of his ass and practice.
Second-Trevor Rabin is the reason for their decline in the first place-Yep-face it one big album and then a long decline. Many people don't even know that Yes has recovered from Rabin's atempt to turn them into Foriener(or Toto).
I have had to talk people into checking out Magnifiction who say"I don't trust them any more"
Yes have recovered artisticly and now they have to display the same integrity to recover their fans(half of whom don't even know that Yes is great again.
If Yes is so eager to give up on Magnification, maybe they should'nt be suprised that many of their fans gave up on them.
So what Im saying is...Is there a musical reason to bring back Rick and Trevor-because Yes can't afford to waste a tour going backward(unless they are planing on living a real long time-if thats the case-never mind-)

And for all those who worry about Steve sharing the stage with another guitarist ; he's done it with Steve Hackett in 'GTR' , with Milton Mc Donald in 'ABWH' , and most recently with Billy Sherwood , so let it go !
Trevor Rabin is a skilled musician and a solid vocalist. His appearance will not diminish the YES mystique , but enhance it !
Yet I agree with the thought that "Magnification" should get a fair shake at bringing around those that jumped off the band-wagon before doing a 'Union II'.
