On Wednesday, Dec. 16, a Seattle local television station ran a special on local celebrities (I guess there aren't that many!). Alan White was one of them. He was billed as "arguably the most versatile drummer in rock-and-roll history". Yes was also billed as "perhaps the most successful progressive rock band of all time".

They started with Alan telling of his 1st call from John Lennon to play in Canada in about 1970. They showed a clip of the concert, too. Then they talked of him joining Yes. They showed clips from the Yessongs and Live in Philadelphia DVD's. Jon, Steve, Chris, and a quick view of Rick were also shown. Song clips were of Your Move, Roundabout, Siberian Khatru, and Close to the Edge. As "the band members settled in various parts of the World, Alan and his wife settled in the Seattle area, where she grew up."

They then showed the clip from the local drum clinic (I never heard about this event, drat!). Alan showed how he takes a simple rhythm (from Hold On) and gives it some style with modifications.

They mentioned the White band with a CD soon to be released. Also mentioned was the possibility of a new Yes release and tour in the summer of 2005.

I recorded all 15 minutes of this profile of Alan to VHS.

Did you hear any of the new music by White, and what was it like?

No, they didn't play anything of the new White band (I hope it's not simply an average White band!).
