Hi there.

I would like to say I'm happy to have found this board, and I hope I'll have a great time here. I'm not a huge Yes fan, owning only Fragile and Close To The Edge, but I'm sure - I'm not gonna stop here :)
I think Yes is an amazing band, and in terms of composing and arranging songs it was the best band in the 70s.

To finish, I also listen to bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple etc., fusion jazz (Mahavishnu Orchestra, Miles Davis, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock), but also some more 'recent' stuff (e.g. Tool, Rage Against The Machine).

That's it. See ya on the board!

Hi Qball and welcome to Yesfans ! You've found the right place. Everybody here likes Yes and any other good music.
If you visit often you will soon want to discover more of Yes.
By the way, we had another Polish member Justyes, checking this site, maybe you know him ?

Greetings QBall - you live in the land of my Father ... perhaps we can talk about Poland some time - I never got the chance to ask him much.

Hello Qball, welcome to the site.

I have a cd called Moonshine. it is done by the Polish band Collage. I'd describe them as a cross between Yes and Rush. Ever hear of them?

Hello! greetings from Canada. Nice to read that you're a fellow Mahavishnu Orchestra fan. Visions of the Emerald Beyond, well, what can you say about John McLaughlin that hasn't already been said! I've had the opportunity to talk face to face with Mr. McLaughlin twice in my life. He's humble, soft-spoken, and very kind. He's a major influence on YES, and he's Trevor Rabin's (and mine) favourite guitar player. Check out "Relayer" for the Mahavishnu inspired YES!

Welcome Qball!

My Dad was from Poland. A little town called, (I'm going to have to try to spell it phonetically, because I don't know how to actually spell it) Canchuka.

Welcome, Qball!! Mahavishnu's "Between Nothingness and Eternity" (the live lp) is one of my favorites. Great stuff! We all like different things but Yes is our inspiration. Good to have you with us. (Billy Cobham's Crosswinds is now availible on cd - finally). I'm a drummer, so I tend to favor that kind of music. Ever listen to Bill Brufords Earthworks?

I'm something like more than 90% Polish. My maternal grandfather came from Bialystok, my materal grandmother from somewhere newr Krakow. My paternal grandfther was from somewhere in the southwest section of the country. Plus I live near Chicago, the "American Warsaw." You can't get too much more Polish than that!

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome.
It's nice to know some people here have Polish 'connections' ;-)

Well, I've heard the name, but I haven't heard anything by them yet. I'll check them out.

Welcome QBall!

Since you like fusion and Fragile and Close to the Edge, I think you should check out Yes's "Relayer."

Patrick Moraz was the keyboardist, and he brought a lot of fusion sounds to what was sadly his only record with the band.

Post often!

Welcome Qball!

I too have a Polish connection, my grandparents came from there. Unfortunately any Polish I learned growing up I've now forgotten. I do remember calling my grandmother Bubba though! LOL

Enjoy the site!

Well, I'm not really suprised that some of the American fans have polish relatives. Point for those who were able to write names of some polish cities correctly! I'm from Warsaw and I'm pleased I can participate in this forum. Alan White said once that the band loves playing in Poland and they will never miss Poland while touring in Europe. I believe him but I'm also afraid next tour is not gonna happen this year...

Here are some pictures I thought I'd share with you...

These are my guitars. Starting from the top - my first, classical guitar, then the electric Peavey Raptor Plus and, finally, my cheap SkyWay bass guitar, which I use mainly in a rock band I'm in.
