I recently was at Sam's Warehouse and I saw an interesting DVD for a reasonable price ($ 8.99). It was titled: J.R.R. Tolkien: Master Of The Rings, The Definitive Guide to the World Of The Rings.

Due to my Tolkien obsession, I bought it not expecting too much. It is filled with many delightful nuggets. The main feature is a documentary that includes rare footage of J. R. R. Tolkien, a 3D graphic and computer animation sequence of Middle Earth, and interviews with Mostly Autumn, Roger Dean, Rick Wakeman, and the keyboard player from Uriah Heep. Extras include:
1)additional short interviews with Roger Dean, UH keyboardist, and Rick Wakeman.
2) A beautiful gallery of 50 artwork renditions by the Hildebrandt Brothers.
3) Two Live Videos From Mostly Autumn one inspired by the Bree Inn and one inspired by The Battle Of Helm's Deep.
4) Lots of discussion by Tolkien historians.

The is no hint of Roger Dean or Rick Wakeman on the cover so that was a surprising and delightful bonus. It is worth getting.

The Roger Dean interview has him at a desk with three pieces of art easily scene including a colorful and framed version of the Yes logo from the Close To The Edge era.

It appears to be a new DVD from Eagle Media.

A nice DVD documentary with a prog. rock touch.

P. S. - Rick Wakeman has read LOTR six times and he talked about how at one point he wanted to do an album to LOTR.

I'm looking at a DVD player in the very near future, to play my Live in Philadelphia, and the LOTR DVD. This definately sounds worth my while--thanks again!

Rick has done some LotR songs, but I'm unsure of the disc. And I've heard of Mostly Autumn before; could you suggest a sampler?

Since LOTR is going to be a major box office hit over the next three years, Rick may decide to do that album after all.
