Gosh, his daughter is probably hot by now, judging by the dated look of that picture!

Hey Harold:
Be careful of what you speak, my friend.
The father is a big guy and we wouldn't want you to get hurt!!!

She is very pretty. That is hard to miss. I'm sure Chris is used to that by now. He was quite the hottie in his day too, so it stands to reason.

yeah, he could probably beat me up with one hand, I wonder if he fights alot? Probably not considering Yes' positive messages and all that.
How old is that picture anyways?

Ever see the CONEHEADS movie? I just imagined Chris in Dan Ackroyd's role, tearing the roof off Chris Farley's car for messing with his daughter.

I think that he is probably a pretty gentle guy -- from what we read, he is pretty quiet and slow to anger. Slow to anger means GIANT temper when it does blow. And nothing can make a father's temper blow quitel ike someone messing with the darling daughter, eh?
But, with him being 6'5" and all, I would not want to get him angry.
I remember reading an interview with him relating to Jon that he and Jon were disgreeing about something and Chris made the remark that if he didn't agree he'd just go ahead and sit on him and he'd eventually come around. A very b-r-o-a-d paraphrase here but I do remember reading it. Very entertaining image and a pretty good story.
And then, of course, that was the incident of the punch in the face, but that is ancient history (smile)

Hey Pat:
The punch, the famous punch.
It was Rick who actually told this story to all the Yes biographers (in Dan Hegdes' and Chris Welch's both, oh yes and how could I forger the new bio as well!!!).
When he was invited by Chris (at 3 in the morning) to join the band, he walked into a sort of madhouse where all kind of tension was building up during the CTTE recording sessions.
During one of these sessions (when Chris was not languishing in the bath), Rick winessed the bass player (Chris) slug the drummer (Bill) and asked himself what he had walked into.
Hedges' bio is long out of print and was published in 1981 but you can often find copies on Ebay or used/oop book dealers.
Welch's bio is a few years old and is great. I found my copy at Borders even. And the new bio is readily available now but you will only find through mail order.
In any case that is the story of the puch.
Chris has big hands (and feet as well, according to Banks) and I would not want to be on the receiving end of that (or any) fist.
Allison
That and other stories can be found in

I thought it was the other way around - didn't Bruford pop Squire over some rhythm section disagreement? I can see where Bruford would be a short-tempered dude back in the day. I guess he'd have to jump up to tag Squire, though!

Yeskater:
I think that you are right.
You know, I've read and chuckled at this story a lot why do I get who clocked who wrong?
Well, Yeskater is right, I believe.
But Pat, there was this disagreement and Rick did wonder what the heck he had walked into?
Thanks for clearing that up, Ys
DOH!!!

I don't have an exact date for that pic but Carmen looks to be about 12 and she's married to Tony Kaye now and just had a baby boy last year. I'd date it circa 1980.
By the way, Carmen, Chandrika and Camille are not Chris's daughters. They are his step-daughters. Nikki was married before she married Chris. Now Chris is married to Melissa and their son just turned 2 (I think) in February.
Carmen does voice-over work and she did some backing vocals on her mom's first Esquire album.
Here is a more recent pic of Nikki and the girls. Carmen is in the pink shirt. (since you were curious Haroldthebarrel)
So, none of those kids are Chris' biological kids?
And Trooper1129, you must tell me where you are getting those pix, please.

Okay, well I know that Carmen is not Chris's daughter because she was 3 when Chris and Nikki got married. I could be wrong about Chandrika and Camille, but I seem to remember that they were his stepdaughters and his son is his first born....I'll look into it though as I have a friend who knows more about Chris than he knows about himself. Sorry guys....we all make mistakes.
The pic of Nikki and the girls is from Nikki's web site but the other pic of Chris and Carmen from the 80's is from a friend of mine and it wouldn't surprise me if she took it herself. Pictures are one thing I always have plenty of or can easily find.
