Has anybody obtained a copy of Original Syn yet?

If so, what's the album like? And does it have the new 14-minute version of Time And a Word?

Dear Ellis:
Has anybody obtained a copy of Original Syn yet? If so, what's the album like? And does it have the new 14-minute version of Time And a Word?
No one has received "Original Syn" yet, because we're still waiting for it to arrive from the manufacturers. There was a delay of about five days from the London-based design company that created the cover art and booklet. But it's all in production now. I'm expecting everything next week.

You must have missed the announcement about TAAW. The Syn decided to replace that track with "Illusion" -- which is a *killer* track! It is its own epic, and it's fantastic!! I agree completely with their decision, because I'd like to hear the epic version of TAAW with Chris on bass, and that becomes more likely by holding that track until the next release... which I hear should be sometime after the first of the year.... a "mini-album" of approximately 40 minutes of new material. But we'll see how that all works out.

More news as it happens! I do apologize about the delay, but of course there has been nothing I could do to hurry up the design company. (grins) At least we won't wait as long as we do for most YES releases! I'll give you a heads up when distribution is underway, and I am expecting that to happen sometime next week... or so I am told.

Have a great day! Hugs to everyone!

Michele

Thanks for that info Michele.

Now I'm drooling with anticipation! I heard a sample of Illusion from Syn's website, and its better than TAAW! I'm glad they made that change, although I'm still curious about it!

Illusion sounds like a terrific track. Overtones of 70's Yes. Great!

You're quite welcome!

The Syn put lot of time and effort into creating such a nice product of such high quality. Your comments are very gratifying, and I'm just delighted that you are so happy! I will pass your comments on to The Syn. I know they'll be thrilled, too! (smiles)

I got this cd as a Squire fan, first off. Having got it, I'm now also a Syn fan. All Yes fans are going to go big on Syn, especially as Chris is playing with them again. Musically great and Steve Nardelli is a fantastic singer. These cd's go back to the very origins of Chris/Yes and has a new epic track called Illusions, which is masterful.
And I've never heard a better interview from Chris, really special!
I'll be waiting for your new album, guys!!

Is there any Syn released at all? The other night on some radio station I heard a song that was definately Chris on vocals and definately has his basslines. It didn't sound like Conspiracy. It sounded much older. But when the song was over they didn't say what it was.

That's all I can say about this one!!

I listened to it as soon as I got home last night, in fact, I couldn't wait to get home to listen to it!! LOL

I'm amazed as to how good the song Illusion is, and Chris isn't even playing on it!!

That means the stuff that he will be playing on is gonna seriously ROCK!!!

"Original Syn" was finally received from the manufacturer on Nov. 19th. All of the pre-sale oversea orders entered the U.S. Postal System on Nov. 26th.

If you ordered online and provided an email address, you should have received a notice of mailing. If you ordered by phone, then I probably don't have an email address for you and couldn't notify you.

There is no customer named "Stevie" in the database, so I assume that is your screen name. If you would like me to track down your package, just send the name under which you ordered in an email to:

believers@unplugusa.com

Let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you. Have a great day!

I would guess that it was more probably from Squire's solo album Fish Out of Water. Very little of Syn's output had Squire on lead vocals and it seems exceedingly unlikely that what there is would have got played on the radio.

Thanks, Henry. I forgot all about FOOW. I'll have to check it out. It was pretty hot. MInd you this radio station was definately some kind of public radio station, possibly college. Not even as big as NPR.

Not a big criticism, but...

Tracks in chronological order would have been nice - yes, I know about musicality!
We could have been given the catalogue numbers and release dates for the singles - yes, I know I've got them elsewhere!
Booklet: I was immediately referring to other material to try to get the times and the rival groups in context - so my point is...?
Family tree: where is Pete Frame when you need him?

I haven't done the hi-fi taste test and compared to the previous DECCA compilation releases of Grounded and 14 Hour but I've all my SYN stuff in (almost) one place now.

EXCELLENT JOB!!! The roots of Yes... Mabel Greer next?

#45 here!
Thanks to my secret Santa ;)

I think its an amazing accomplishment that these tracks survive at all..

And Im so impressed that The Self's tracks survived..I think it works that the set closes on disc one with The Selfs tracks..

The new track Illusion shows where these guys can go..although I respect Steve Gee for playing bass on Illusion..I sure would have like to have heard Chris' interpretation of it..
and Peter Banks' little nod to Astral Traveler at the end is very very cool ;)

Scoot, how did you get to hear the new stuff and do you know who is playing guitar for them? It seems it's not Pete Banks.

Hi Mike, and don't forget that next year they are going to release 2 new albums, and the second one has Chris playing ALL the bass on it, if my knowledge is right!

Now, Ellis (smiles) ... this is an officially released CD package, and we're not going to do bootleg burns of it. There are some lines of ethics that should not be crossed.

Let me suggest that you contact me offline via email, and we'll work out an arrangement so you can have a real copy. I'll do what I can to help you. But out of respect for The Syn, let's not engage in any illegalities here.

Just email me. All things are possible. (smiles)

No trouble, Ellis. (smiles) I know you didn't mean any harm.

There are two ways to buy in British pounds.

1. Use the telephone sales number, and the total cost is 20 GBP. Customers who use this number automatically pay in GBP, charged to their VISA or MasterCard credit or debit card.
In the U.K.: 020 8938 3434

2. If you use the online sale link, located here:

http://yesservices.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=10

Once the page opens, look at the far right column at the bottom where it says "Currencies", and select "GBP" from the drop-down menu. Everything will happen in British pounds on the sale site when you select that option.

Actually, I believe that you could complete the purchase in U.S. dollars, and pay for it with your credit card through ProtX, and ProtX automatically converts your payment in GBP into dollars when it accepts the purchase. So, it's not a hard process. (smiles)

Have a great day!
