I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. In the acapella part of "Leave It" there is a choir of voices, one of them being a baritone. Does anyone know who's voice this is? I know it's not Jon (LOL), and I've never heard Chris's voice down that low, so I'm relatively sure it is not him. I'm pretty sure it is not Trevor Rabin, since he is singing the first verse over the acapella at the time. That just leaves Alan, who I noticed was also creited with backup vocals in this album. I've never heard him sing though. Any one know who it might be???

Thanks!

Trevor Rabin said it was just he and Chris Squire who did the acapella. Trevor said that there were about 100 voices looped in it, and Chris's voice is the low part. He talks about it in the "YesYears: A Retrospective" documentary video.

Wow! I stand corrected. Cool, another thing to like about Chris.

Thanks for the info

I figured it was all Chris, the quality of his voice overwhelms Trevor's in that harmony. Kind of reminds me of the awesome Flaming Lips song "The Gash" (I believe the lead vocal on that was digitally cloned and altered to physically impossible pitches). Only much less freaky! Funny thing about Chris's voice is that he sings all these high vocals but he does have that specifically mannish sound to his voice (unlike Jon), if that makes sense. I could see him singing a lot more low parts than he does.

For some reason, I've always gotten the vibe that I hear HORN's voice in some of the backing vocals for LEAVE IT. It's probably the morphing of the Squire and Rabin voices together that creates that (DOES IT REALLY HAPPEN from DRAMA sound) effect.

Trevor Horn does some harmonies in Leave It. He's not on the intro section but he is one of the voices doing the "Goodbye bad, hello heaven" backups later in the song.
