WELCOME to all of our new Yesfans!

In the 2.5 years that I've been here, I've learned my way around this board. I thought that this thread would be a place to post some things that might make your stay here more enjoyable.

Some random things to know:

You can post pictures. But be careful, because each member has a size limit of KB that each is allowed. I for one, post lots of pics of various Yesfans gatherings, pics of my pets, etc. To save on your bandwidth limit, consider posting your pics on an image hosting site, and providing the link to the pics in your post. My new favorite image hosting site is ImageShack.

We have a chat room. You have to have AOL IM to access the chat room. Our normal "chat night" is Wednesday. The times vary, depending on people's schedules. So just pop on in on a Wednesday night and see if you can find some of us in there. To access the chat room, look for the CHAT link on the top right of your screen.

We are associated with YesWorld, so be polite and use common sense when you post. We don't want to tick off any of the Yes management.

On the top right of your screen is a button called USER CP. This is where you can set up your own signatures, assign yourself an avatar, and a whole host of other features. Go play!

If you really want to explore the site, you will see in each forum, on the bottom left of your screen is a drop down window where you can view all of the threads within the forums since the inception of Yesfans. Choose your timeframe, and explore.

I'm sure that others will post more helpful tips as time goes on.

COOKIES, the kind you don't eat.

This site uses COOKIES which is a setting found in your internet browser. This option must be ENABLED with in your browser. This is a little thingy that the site puts on your computer so it will realize who you are and keep you logged into the site. From time to time it is good to CLEAR OUT your COOKIES files from your computer system. This file fills up jsut from exploring the net. MANY sites put them on your system. Clearing them out from time to time is good as it wil help your system perform a bit better. It is also wise to clear out your TEMPORARY INTERNET and HISTORY files from time to time. These file when full will not let this site run real well for you. You wil run into problems that include the site not holding your log in session after you have logged in or you having to log in every time you make a post.

I hate to say it but we are experiencing a groth issue in that we have became too busy for the server this site has been on since day 1. We are in the process of taking steps to move to a better server but since we are a privately funded site that process will take a little time. Sorry!

Excellent thread Sheila and thanks for starting it. I'll add my 2 cents.

Like my lawyer once told me, for the most part, people are good. If you read something that doesn't sound easy on the eyes and it is directed at something you have said, it might be helpful to contact the person who wrote it to express your feelings. In the same light, if you mean something to be humorous, try adding ( ha ha's, hee hee's, smiling or just kidding ) to clarify that you mean this in a joking manner.

Nightliner has said that if you type something that sounds offensive to yourself, chances are it is. Be a good neighbor, play well with others and remember what brings us all together. A superb band.

A few changes have been made since Sheila's post in 2004.

A change to the Chat Room. You no longer need AOL anything installed - just click on the "Chat Room" link on the top right of the screen and you're in! And you can find someone in there at any time.

The User Control Panel has switched from the right of your screen to the left - find it under "Profile".
