It appears Trevor Rabin will be appearing at this with Steve, Alan, and Chris. It also appears Jon and Rick won't be there.

This aught to make a few of the Yes Westers happy!

Umm... Cindy... you reading this?

So presumably the band will be Steve, Alan, Chris, Trevor....so does that mean Trevor Horn on vocals and Geoff Downes on keyboards or will Trevor Rabin play keyboards?

Former Yes member Trevor Rabin will join Alan, Chris, and Steve, performing an electric version of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" with an orchestra handling the keyboard parts.

(from YesWorld)

Why the *** is Jon not there, it's nice to have Trevor back for this but come on...Jon, where art thou?

Let's try to remember Jon was really burned out after this past tour and desperately needed some rest. (God I hope he isn't sick or something) It also stands to reason that Trevor Rabin has a good relationship with Trevor Horn too. (and Steve is good friends with Trevor Horn)

Let's hope that this is all that this means. Jon and Rick really seem happy to be playing with the band.

This has got to be a one-off for the gig, nothing more.

But I must admit I'm curious as to what an album by these 4 would sound like; but as a separate project, not as Yes.

I hope it's the first step of Trevor coming back. Some people may not like it, but I've wanted him back for a long time, preferably with Steve and Rick. I think it could be great if they all just worked together for the common good.

Yes! I was hoping when this was announced TrevyR wouldn't give the "I've got a score to make" excuse and go to this thing, especially since him and Horn are pals now. Awesome news, and I burn with infernal jealously over you louts that have tickets to this! We need video! We need audio! I did hear this thing will be recorded to CD so I HOPE they don't cut this song from the list.

TrevyR and Steve Howe...back together again..LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

Too bad Jon can't make it...vocals will be interesting. Trevy does a great job on OOALH, as you can hear on "Live from LA", but Horn is the man this party is being thrown for and was considered to sing on 90125, so he may take over on vocals for this. Considering is TrevyR's baby, I hope TrevyR sings it. Maybe "Hold On" and a lil Cinema stuff will be played too. This almost feels like a mini-Union. Best Yes news in a while!

G - I'm game, PM meet sound good too!!! Which means we need to pick somewhere in the Wembley area. I have a good friend who lives in that area, I'll ask her next week.

I too would like more than one Yes Tune - 'Shock to the System' would be possible, with orchestra and Trevor H on vocals??

I get the feeling it will be more than one song or a medley of a few songs. I mean, setting up all that specific equipment for Chris and Trevor and then to just play OOALH and then redo the equipment for whos next scurry off wouldn't make sense.

first about the worries
In a Sep 2004 article, Howe described the current band: "This is a more stable lineup—not 100 percent stable—but more stable than other lineups that we have had. We're hopeful that we can sustain it. And it seems to be the one that has the most popular vote."
plus anderson said he has a lot more work to do with yes something "that will wake people up" (to me an album with the 8 man lineup is a wakeup call but that is me can't speak for others)
adn fro this as far as lineup or songs
Well horn was quoted as saying
As well as playing in the Buggles, Downes will be in the 'house band' for the evening, performing with many of the other acts. In a 30 Oct interview, Horn says "I'm going to get Yes to join Buggles for one song."
so who knows maybe the lineup will be the drama lineup making it the firstime yes has played live without jon in over 22 years (hopefuly downes will think maybe i should rejoin yes and then they could get bill and trevor and have union without all of california playing on the album) yeah if someone could send me audio of rabin playing with yes that would be awesome. Heck maybe they'll play a mini set all of drama then a couple of tracks from 90125 and Big Generator and of course Roundabout (hopefully perpetual change so that I can say every keybordest in yes has played that song) if i was chris I would have Howe tackle a rabin tune he never played and Rabin play a Howe tune (from drama) the set would be

Machine Messiah (with Horn on lead vocals and rabin on guitar)
It can happen (Rabin on lead vocals Howe on guitar)
Owner of a lonely heart (Horn on lead vocals and both on guitar)
Does it really happen (with a bit of man in the white car)
Run through the light(horn on lead vocals and both on guitar)
Gates of delirium (with rabin on lead vocals and maybe guitar too since horn loved the song so much)
Parrallels (drama lineup and rabin and howe trading off solos that would be awesome is never going to happen but still :guitar: :guitar:)
I am a camera (drama lineup and rabin)
Tempus fugit
encores
Starship trooper
Sweet dreams

That is my setlist they will never play it i knbow maybe we might get Tempus fugit from the drama lineup and no rabin :( but still this is what I want a man can dream can't he

I'm sop excited if anyone "finds" a copy of the song or songs this lineup of yes does Please pm me or email them to me. and post areview also Please put what guitars are used by Stever and Trevor being a guitarist this kind of stuff Intrests me plus Is chris using his Green bass (the oine he used on lighting strikes and owner of a lonely heart pre Steve's rejoin) or is he using the Elektra (the bass he used on Tempus Fugit cinema leave it and city of love and currently uses it for Owner of a lonely heart) here is hoping they at least play Tempus fugit as well It may not be Jon on it but at least it is played. I am so excited the first time in 10 years Rabin is playing live and the first time Horn has sang lkive since 1998 i believe (could be wrong i mean i onl;y found out about that concert though Where are they now yes memembers)
any chance this may be the time we get to hear Geoff downes on classic yes peices that he never played live with the band before CTTE Owner of a lonely heart stuff from Magnification, Perpetual Change. (frankly since there is an orchestra maybe they will do magnification with rabin adding his touch to the song that would be awesome. And yes i know i'm a crazy yes fan who dreams dreams that aren't possible but with yes you never know I mean honestly Yes themselves never thought they would still be around today playing as yes and yet here they are nor do i imagine there would be teenagers who are yesfans)

Thanks for the description pic and audio (hopefully)
Hope you all enjoy the event and lets be honmest Yes live with rabin that in itself is a reason to celerbrate all they need is bill and tony and imagine lock the 8 of them in a studio you have an amazing yes album and agreat reality t.v. show that wouldn't need any editing or manipulating at all

OK, here's a review from Henry Potts (THANK YOU HENRY), I just found on AMY, with the pertinent Yes inofo highlighted:

I am a happy Panther. Purr purr purr purr purr purr purr. The _Drama_
line-up live on stage... sort of... and, OK, not actually playing
anything from _Drama_. And the rest of the show was fantastic. I'm not
certain how accurately I'm remembering the details, but I'll do my
best.

Let's start with the 'house band', supporting most acts. This varied
somewhat through the night, but was generally Trevor Horn (bass), Anne
Dudley (1st keys), Geoff Downes (2nd keys), 3rd keys player (possibly
Jamie Muhoberac???), Steve Lipson (electric guitar), Pete Robinson
(drums), Alan White (drums, obviously), Lol Creme (acoustic guitar),
Phil Palmer (acoustic guitar, backing vocals), Bruce Woolley (backing
vocals), Tessa Niles (backing vocals), Rachel Fury (??? backing
vocals), two other women on backing vocals -- one of whom also played
some harp, Luis Jardim (1st percussion), someone else (2nd percussion)
+ an orchestra (conducted by Nick Ingman, string leader Gavyn Wright,
horn leader Steve Sidwell). The backing vocalists stayed for most
things and Horn and Creme sometimes (and once Dudley) joined them. The
percussionists joined in with most acts too.

The show opened with video clips of the opening of MTV (of course!) as
a lead in to "Video Killed the Radio Star", followed by "Living in the
Plastic Age". These were played by Downes, Horn, Lipson, Creme,
Palmer, Woolley (also on acoustic guitar for "VKtRS"), Robinson (who
drummed on the original, Horn said) + the four female backing
vocalists (two, Fury + ?, sang on the original). Horn looked a bit
nervous and somewhat dwarfed by his bass guitar, but good
performances. Basically the same band (Anne Dudley joined) then backed
Dollar to perform their two Horn-penned hits "Mirror, Mirror" and
"Give Me Back My Heart". They were incredibly cheesy and there was
even giggling in the audience!

Belle & Sebastian appeared -- seven of them, or was it six? They used
the orchestra, but we lost the house band. Performed "I am a Cuckoo"
and "Step Into My Office Baby", both from their recent Horn-produced
album. Good, although the mix was a bit off.

We then got a video message from Ian McShane, currently filming
"Deadwood". He was there to introduce Grace Jones. Jones was in an
outrageous outfit, like some sort of accident involving a parachute
and iron railings, and sung with panache. The house band were in full
force here, including Alan White's first appearance of the evening as
one of two drummers. They did "Slave to the Rhythm", naturally, with
Woolley sharing lead guitar with Lipson IIRC.

I can't remember the running order, but I think this is when we had
Art of Noise, with Horn, White, Dudley, Lipson(?) and the backing
vocalists doing "Close (to the Edit)". (I think it was that one,
unless I'm getting confused with "Beatbox".) A live version of a
studio creation is a rather bizarre thing to do, but they pulled it
off, including some tricky bass runs for Horn. (No Lol Creme for this
track, which is odd given he's involved with the current Art of Noise
line-up, and no Paul Morley all evening, which surprised me.)

Then with the house band all there, into a Propaganda reunion, with
Brucken, Freytag, Dorper and Mertens, for "Das Testament des Dr
Mabuse". Mertens and Dorper were rather lost in the mix given multiple
other keyboardists and percussionists were playing, but I thought
Freytag and Brucken up front were great.

Next up, and getting the biggest audience reaction of the first half,
were ABC. The live band were, I think, Nick Beggs (bass), Tracy Graham
(backing vocals), Andy Hamilton (sax), Matt Backer (guitar) and, from
the famous line-up who worked with Horn, Martin Fry (vocals) and David
Palmer (drums). Anne Dudley handled keys and Jardim was on percussion.
They played "Poison Arrow", "All of My Heart" and (with Fry changing
into gold suit), "Look of Love". The mix was off to begin with, but
got better by the final song.

Then Yes! Horn introduced the band and said how Squire had been his
all-time favourite bassist then and still was. The line-up was one I
never expected to see: Rabin (lead guitar, vocals), Howe, Squire,
White, Downes + backing vocalists (including Horn) + Jardim. We got
"Cinema" and "Owner of a Lonely Heart". Rabin was good on guitar, but
rather hoarse and strained on vocals -- he didn't really quite manage
"Owner...", but he tried hard and it was a fun performance. Howe
played throughout, but wasn't particularly noticeable until a solo at
the end of "Owner...", but he seemed happy. Rabin, Howe and Squire all
locked arms for bows at the end. Lots of Yes fans in the audience.

Intermission for half an hour.

(It's nearly 2am, so I'm going to go into less detail from now on...
More tomorrow.)

Pet Shop Boys + Sally Bradshaw on vocals + orchestra, backing
vocalists etc. Great performances of "Left to My Own Devices" and
"It's Alright".

House band, including White/Downes/Horn, to back Lisa Stansfield for a
piece, presumably from her new Horn-produced album _The Moment_, but I
didn't recognise it.

House band stayed... Tom Jones video message to introduce... t.A.T.u.!
Did "All the Things She Said" in ridiculously small denim shorts, but
no kissing. (There was a middle-aged guy in full t.A.T.u school-girl
costume queueing before the show.) Horn and Creme shared bass duties,
Horn explaining afterwards that he'd recorded the bass part in two
takes in the studio and it was impossible to do live with one player.

Then Seal! Still the house band, so the first time that Horn and Seal
had performed live together despite years of working in the studio.
Seal was perhaps the star of the evening, a superb front man. They did
"Killer", then Seal talked about working with Horn (mentioning he was
a _90125_ fan), then a new arrangement of "Kiss from a Rose" (White
sat that one out), then "Crazy".

Finally Frankie Goes to Hollywood: Ped Gill, Mark O'Toole, Paul
Rutherford, Ryan Malloy (vocals), Lipson, a keyboard player, a
guitarist + the backing vocalists. No guest vocalist, as promo had
said -- Malloy sang everything. Opened with "Welcome to the
Pleasuredome" with Howe (barely audible) on lap steel + Phil Palmer
(IIRC), which opened with two ballet dancers! Then "Two Tribes", and
the whole evening closed with "Relax", with Horn back on stage for
backing vox.

I'd expected least from Frankie: it's only 3/5 of the famous line-up,
they haven't played together in years and Gill hadn't performed at all
for a fair while. However, they were stunning. O'Toole had tremendous
stage presence on bass, Gill drummed ferociously and newcomer Malloy
managed to pull it off. Rutherford, although somewhat fatter then in
his youth, was full of energy. They tore through "Two Tribes", faster
than the studio version, I think!

What else to say... Prince Charles was there, as was Camilla, as were
Trevor Horn's mum and dad, and brother (another Yes fan) and son. The
whole thing was filmed -- numerous cameras -- for a DVD and TV
(possibly BBC?).

T-shirts and a nice programme on sale, plus a _Produced by Trevor
Horn_ compilation album, which will presumably be in the shops soon.
It's got a wide-ranging track list, but no previously unreleased songs
(possibly some rare mixes?). Includes "Owner...".

In all, one of the best concerts I've ever been to and one of the
oddest Yes appearances...

Henry

Well... First time poster here... I've spent quite a bit of time browsing the site and have enjoyed the stories and the enthusiasm for one of the world's greatest ensemble of artists.

That said, I have a keen interest in the Trevor Horn concert discussed in this thread.

Notably, SMATT's paste of a review provided by Henry(?), in which he states:
