I don't know if the guys still use Fish as Chris's nickname. My understanding of why he got this is that when Yes first started Chris was always in the bath. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Yes, this is the story I've heard for years. I've also heard Rick refer to Chris as 'Fishy', but I don't know what nicknames they're using these days . . probably the same ?!

That's right.
Also, Tempus Fugit was aimed at Chris because he apparently had trouble being on time for anything.

Maybe he was in the bath during the Tormato sessions, which would explain the underwater bass sound. ;)

Yes, Chris is referred to as "The Fish" by some individuals close to the band.

Bath... Shower... I have heard the same thing about him. Squire is something else from what I understand. I think if I knew him personally I would really dig partying with him.

On Chris' website http://chrissquire.com/ under "News" there's an interview you can listen to - February 09, 2004, "Discussing 'Long Distance Runaround', 'Heart of the Sunrise', 'South Side of the Sky' and being called Fish." Same story about Bill Bruford calling him that because they shared a room and Chris was always in the bath. "Plus I'm a Pisces" I think Chris says in the interview. Trevor Horn said, "We call him the Fish" on the Drama tour when he was introducing the song, "The Fish"...

I would just like to point out that I am not Chris Squire and am in no way related to him. I just use the Nickname. And I dont bath nor do I know one end from a Rickenbacker from another. :bncy:
:dog:
I hope you bathe once in awhile ;)

He probably means that he has showers instead of baths.

Remember his solo album is "Fish Out of Water."
It makes sense if you think about it. He's "Fish" and he's "out of water," ie., not playing with Yes.

Or Middle Aged Mutant Ninja Squires?Chris seems to have cheated middle age quite nicely. I don't think it should be part of his nickname!

I might add that Bill Bruford was rather annoyed at Chris for his lengthy waterings.......He seemed to feel it was the greatest insult imaginable to make others wait, and make them late.

Such a brilliant album, and brilliantly titled.
Fish out of water = Chris doing something other than Yes.

Oddly enough though this is the YES trivia section,
FISH from MARILLION also got his name from
the taking of lengthy bathes!!!
