Has anyone seen this yet, I understand its only just being released in the USA, yet it went to number one in the UK charts...the first time ever that Yes has had a number 1 DVD

I was at the premiere in Phila. in Jan. with Ed Schiaky hosting. I just watched the DVD from start to finish and I have to say this little DVD is excellent (that is, "little" because of the length). The 5.1 sound in DTS is excellent and the production was also great-the look and feel of it was polished and professional. If only this wasn't three hours long with so many other unplugged performances. Rick's piano on SSOTS is superb, Steve's playing is tasty throughout. Jon's voice is right on. All of them really shined in this understated performance. As for the extras, that is, the rehearsal with Rick's commentary, Rick's humor is always entertaining and it's always fun to see the guys interact together. Rich

I think a lot to do with that was the pre-release signing at HMV in London. Thousands of people went to buy their copy in advance (self included) before the official release date, with the added bonus that the band were there too. But man, did them guys look exhausted.

Still haven't seen it anywhere in my local stores in the Chicago area.
It's driving me nuts!
Have had DVD since it's release date.
The guys look relaxed and enjoying themselves.
The Rick Wakeman narrated extra is very British in its style and content.
We have a programme on Paramount TV called "Live at Jongleurs" (Ricks comedy club) in which he introduces the acts. The only problem is these are 5 yo 8 years old and not shown in order so ricks hair length changes by the day. As does his dress sense.

Ours arrived from amazon today. After a quick preview over dinner, I can honestly say this is very enjoyable. The guys are having fun, playing very well. A very nice addition to the collection... I~m convinced these guys can make a very nice 2+ hour show of the acoustic stuff, with stories, etc included...

In September's edition of Home Cinema (UK) is the following extract review of Yes-Acoustic, which is part of a larger review on DVD sales in the UK.
"...as I write these words, the top selling music DVD in Britain is by a band who are celebrating 36 years in the business and who have their origins in a long-lost era several years before even the lowly cassette recorder and tape. Yes. The DVD, simply titled 'Yes-Acoustic', of the venerable progressive rock act 'unplugged' has flown off the shelves, dislodging without much ado the likes of Outkast, Coldplay and the gorgeous, pouting and increasingly mad Britney Spears. An hour or so of complex. lengthy songs about Siberian Khatru and Tales from Topographic Oceans played by a quintet of hirsuit men of a certain age; the box even boasts the odd sales slogan 'Guaranteed No Hits!!' (orginal quote). And yet, it is outselling hipper, younger, cooler acts with far thicker hair and far more pneumatic torsos, male or female".

The Power of Yesmusic Bro'
Its a really fun DVD..and the ease of which that the boys pull off these tracks acoustically is astounding..I forgot to mention though!! On the Documentary,,they have footage from the TOWER RECORDS show from 1/28/04...I WAS THERE..and briefly see my head bobbing up and down and I recognize a few faces...this made the DVD worthy of purchase alone!!
I had no idea cameras were at the Tower gig in Sherman Oaks..hence another token from my incredible Yesyear!

Definitely! Wakeman's narration was my favorite part about the whole thing.

I've just taken delivery of my 'on-offer' version of 'Acoustic' directly from Classic Pictures, with the included cinema release of 'YesSpeak'.
Although I enjoyed the DVD, I'm really glad that I didn't pay full retail from my local store for what is a very short session of 30 minutes. That would have been really poor value.
I started breaking out into laughter the minute I heard rick and the tone, then really getting into Squire, and bamm, chris smacks the mike stand, too funny.
Jon having a funtime with it all.

Nope, the sounstage release will be called Songs from Tsongas(35th Anniversary Concert) and is a different show. The dvd is supposed to come out in December. However, you can get the Yes Acoustic dvd now I believe.

This was a bit of a let-down.
The best track for me was “Tiger Rag”. It was the most fresh, fun and entertaining bit. The band were laughing and everything. The best part was Alan’s solo punctuated by Rick, keeping the theme of the song moving forward.
“Long Distance Runaround”, on the other hand, suffered from Rick going on and on and on at the end. You could see the band standing there waiting and waiting. I kept expecting them to find a spot to jump back in – either as more of “Long Distance” or by segueing into another piece. Nope. Rick just finally decided he’d done enough mindless noodling and stopped. It was as though the band were told to, “make the performance last X number of minutes, so let’s get Rick to pad here, here and here.” I do give Rick credit for some funny adlibbing through the behind-the-scenes bit. That was fun. “Steve, stop doing that. This is a family show!”
Steve, sadly, was not very present in the mix. His work was good, but often hard to hear.
Chris was good, when he chose to do anything. He seemed distracted.
Jon was not just a disappointment with the missed lyrics and general rambling, he was a damned annoyance as he continually tried to SELL PRODUCT. The disc came across more as a commercial then a professional product. Next time, edit out the commercials.
All was not lost, however. The biggest surprise for me was how much I enjoyed “Show Me”. It’s never been a favorite of mine, particularly in the live performances I’ve seen where it was just Jon performing solo with his guitar. The version on YES ACCOUSTIC, however, was a whole different thing. What really made this version special was Chris’s bass work and Steve’s mandolin. Chris, in particular, rounded out an otherwise limp piece into something that sounded very much like a true YesSong. It was very colorful.
I can’t say anything bad about Alan. Whether riffing to ragtime or shaking that little ball of beads into a microphone, he’s always fun to watch and hear. (It doesn’t hurt that he’s the best piece of eye candy amongst rockers in his genre.)
YES ACCOUSTIC is not the band’s best effort. I think it would have been better if they’d used the live broadcast as a bonus section on an otherwise studio effort. You know, do a professional, slick version of these acoustic pieces as the main attraction, then show the live, rough stuff. It’s not a bad disc. It’s certainly a must have for die-hards such as myself, but I won’t be recommending it to any of my friends who are more casual fans.
