Bill Bruford, Pat Moraz and others are somewhat jaded regarding an alleged tendency of Anderson and Howe to be stingy with composition credit.
While Wakeman and others have written and spoken of the joyous experience of writing and recording "Roundabout," Peter Banks has claimed that the opening chord sequence is his, from a warm-up exercise he and the band used to do before the show while he was still a member. And he, of course, is not credited as one of the writers of "Roundabout."
His claim alone is not enough - does anyone out there have Banks' solo albums (I do not)? Is that chord sequence typical of his style? Does his solo vocabulary seem to support or disprove his claim? I would be interested to hear further opinions.
