View Full Version : Perhaps The Dumbest Thread Of All

Sounds dumb, but a friend and I had fun making these up....
Remember the movie "The Fly", how the scientist got his molecules mixed up with a fly and became part fly part human?
If you put a bunch of CDs together in that same molecular transport device, you may end up with album titles like:
GOING FOR THE ONE SIZE FITS ALL
NO UNEARTHLY TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION
SGT.PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND ON THE RUN
901250U812
OLIAS OF SUNFIGHTER

Or you would have songs like:
LET IT BE THE ONE
CASEY JONES CRUSHER
THE SOFT AS A DOVE PARADE
CIRCUS OF HEAVEN ON THEIR MINDS
STILL...YOU TURN ME ON THE SILENT WINGS OF FREEDOM
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE SEEKER
Can you think of any? If I'm just crazy, please tell me and I promise I'll go get professional help.

There's nothing to do for your crazyness, but...

errr...anyway, did you know that Money, Money, Money by ABBA is really a tango?

Just think about it a little, and you'll spend the rest of the day trying to get it out of your head...

Today just my Beatles CDs got mixed up with my Yes CDs

Now I have to listen to
GIVE LOVE EACH DAY TRIPPER
IT WON'T BE LONG DISTANCE RUNAROUND
I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE TO FACE
DRIVE MY WHITE CAR
AND YOU AND I AM THE WALRUS
RHYTHM OF LOVE ME DO
THE ANCIENT -GIANTS UNDER THE SUN KING

Am I the only one who thinks of Yes during PENNY LANE when Paul says the word "roundabout" ?

It all comes flooding back.....

Keeping in mind that the guys from Yes are Beatles' fans, any of those could be the next Yes album title. And if you offered Paul enough money, he probably WOULD include the word "roundabout" in a version of "Penny Lane."

Peace, Love, and We're Only In It for the Owner of a Lonely Heart (a little Zappa-Yes title marriage for ya),

John C.

Only weakly related...

Tom Cruise in Vanilla Sky has this habit of listening to multiple CDs at once.

I wonder how would that woirk. Like CTTE and Ritual at the same time. Very textured stuff!

I used to have a YAMAHA MT-50 4 track recorder, and I made an awesome tape........I put the long keyboard / drum duet part of a boot of LED ZEPPELIN playing NO QUARTER on tracks 1 & 2. On tracks 3 & 4 I put a FRANK ZAPPA guitar solo from a version of KING KONG on YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON STAGE ANYMORE Volume 3. Properly mixed, Frank, playing a somewhat mellow solo was augmented by John Paul Jones and John Bonham quite nicely.
This method of putting unrelated tracks onto a single master was something Zappa explored on many occassions. The SHEIK YERBOUTI album has a track called RUBBER SHIRT which has Patrick O'Hearn playing a bass solo with a completely unrelated Terry Bozzio drum solo mixed onto it. As Zappa notes in the booklet, the sensitive interplay between the instruments never really happened!!

My first thought of hearing two Yes songs at the same time...
Put on SOUND CHASER on CD player 1, then when Alan does that first really heavy drumroll start CD player 2 with THE ANCIENT. Bet that would be wild, perhaps fading the level of THE ANCIENT when the quiet SOUND CHASER verse starts, and raising it after.

Better Yet, Have about 40 CD players each with a different YES cd and blast them all at once to hear CLOSE TO THE HEART OF THE SILENT WINDOW OF THE ANCIENT CALLING IN THE PRESENCE OF PERPETUAL GATES OF YOU AND I AM WAITING TO BE OVER.

DATA on Star Trek Next Generation was also into hearing many recordings at the same time.

Let's have a break from work :
All good people get ready
Don't stand so close to the edge
The holy lamb lies down on Broadway
Our song of seven
Leave it to the runner
Lighting strikes every little thing
...
Got to get back to work.

You're right, but if you offered McCartney enough money, he'd use it more frequently in the song (kind of like the way he kept repeating "Freedom" at the New York benefit concert).

Peace, Love, and Live and Let Long Distance Runaround,

That FREEDOM song....Uggghhhh!!!!

I don't think anyone needs to offer McCartney money. He has tons and tons of it. I think he does what he wants, and also what he thinks he should do.

Paul's most recent cd is actually much better than that horrible but well intentioned FREEDOM song. DRIVING RAIN has a few excellent songs, and a lot of good songs, as well as a few dogs.

My favorite track is SHE'S GIVEN UP TALKING. I also like LONELY ROAD, HEATHER, RIDING INTO JAIPUR and RINSE THE RAINDROPS.

I expect a lot of people might knock Paul, but I like him. I agree with many that he's done way too many schmaltzy overly cute light-weight pop songs, however he also has some gems in his catalog that I will always love.

I like the extended piece on the new album, but I thought most of the rest of the songs were a bit weak. I would prefer more "Silly Love Songs," and less silly love songs.

Peace, Love, and Don't Kill the Strawberry Whale Fields Forever,

John C.

Led Zep: To Be Over The Hills And Far Away

Cameo: Time And A Word Up

Billy Preston: Five Per Cent For Nothing From Nothing

Todd Rundgren: Can I Think You Know

Yes and, um YES!! : Hold On The Silent Wings Of Freedom

This is fun, Rob!! LOL!!
Guess I'm cwazy, too!! :silly:

If Captain Beefheart and Yes jammed, they could do "Too Much Time and a Word."

If Yes and the Doors jammed they could do "Light My Fist of Fire."

If Yes and the Airplane jammed? "Somebody to Love Will Find a Way."

If Yes and Radiohead crossed paths? "High and Dry the Memory"
