I just surfed through MTV on my cable. Caught a news break with Kurt Loader. Man is he showing his age. I am surprised they have not long by now replaced him with a younger pretty face be it male or female.
I've often wondered about that myself. I suppose he is the resident elder--like Mike Wallace on 60 minutes. Perhaps they are thinking that he lends credibility to their lame network.

he's always been my favourite news caster and it seems like he's the only real person on MTV, so why sohouldn't he show his age?!
Peter Jennings doesn't wear pants.

Quick, who can name the five original "veejays" on MTV?
No can do Balrog.
Tanbar, it's not that he's not cool, it just that he is such an anomaly on MTV. That he is so old and is allowed to show it is quite shocking on a "music" channel in which only teenagers are allowed to be seen and in which the target audience is pre-teens and early teenagers.

Well I must say that he always seemed REAL to me. Most of the folks on MTV seemed so fake to me.
The only VJ I can remember is Martha something or another?

i totally agree with you yesiree, and part of me is really surprised that Loader still has that gig. he's a good, respectable journalist, he should have a gig that gives him more prestige thab getting to tell everyone about Brittany Spears new and improved boobs. but i guess he likes it at MTV...it's not as if MTV is even about the music anymore. and it's never been about journalism that's for sure.

I was a great fan of MTV in it's early days, and it saddens me to see how far it has dropped in quality. I still remember seeing the world premier airing of the "Owner" video!!! Anyway the five original "veejays" were:
1) J.J. Jackson ( I think that he is older than K. Loder)
2) Martha Quinn ( the cute one)
3) Nina Blackwood ( looked like she belonged on the WWF!)
4) Mark Goodman (curly)
5) Alan Hunter ( from Alabama, my home state!)
Anyway, I preferred the old rocking MTV to the rap-spewing garbage music they play now.
On the original 5.
And I agree Balrog that it used to be fun to watch too. I just can't get too far into rap--I like a little of it--Rage against the Machine, some of Cypress Hill, some Beastie Boys but I could forgo all of it fairly easily. I guess I'm just getting old. I said I was not going to let the music scene leave me behind but it certainly appears to be doing just that--regardless of my concerted efforts toward the contrary.
