Yesworld announces two new DVD's before the end of 2004 (we shall see....) and names them as 9012Live and a 35th anniversary tour DVD.

This is indeed great news, although I for one doubt very much that the 9012Live will be any different from the VHS version.

The 35 Anni. DVD promises much. I hope it delivers. The label got it absolutely spot on with Symphonic and Acoustic Yes, with great footage and a slick production. I hope this trend continues. What I don't want to see is another Yesspeak, which was IMHO a wasted opportunity.

If the much promised live box set also appears soon, this will make 2004 an extra special Yesyear.

I'm certainly looking forward to ANY new releases!
I hope 9012live will offer the option to watch the show without the animation or whatever they put in there :)

The '50s type footage and the 'special effects' are an integral part of the film. Since none of the other DVD re-releases (Yessongs, Greatest Hits, Yesyears, Live in Philadelphia etc) have had much in the way of extras and haven't had the visual content amended as such I think it's very unlikely that 9012Live will be any different either. There may of course be an additional track or two, but again, I think unlikely. To change it much would involve a complete re-make which will cost a fortune. The outlay vs the return are unlikely to balance.

At the end of the day, 9012Live is a good film, if a bit short. For its time it was quite advanced, and the performances are first rate.

You never know.............................

I seem to remember that they wanted to include this option when they talked about the 9102live DVD ages ago. Maybe that's why it took so long to make it?

But you're right of course. It would cost a fortune to make that.........

I agree, Rick N Backer. The 35th anniv DVD has the potential to be fantastic - better than 'Symphonic, in my opinion. I don't know how others feel, but the performance I saw on this tour was vastly superior to the performance I saw on the Yessymphonic DVD, and I'm not saying that just because I was actually there. Steve seems in a much better place with his energy and playing, and of course Rick is with them! So if they do the DVD right and not like how they did Yesspeak, it could be superb. I personally don't care much about 902whatsit, I'm not a big fan of the Rabin stuff and Chris's outfits from that era scare me!

I remember hearing a year or two ago that they wanted to add a couple extra songs to 9012Live.

It was nominated for a Grammy Award,(lost to Sting) and was the directorial debut of Steven Soderbergh.

In Europe the release of Yes Acoustic DVD was announced for June 21. Turned out te be June 28 ... availibility in stores: July 7.
But I must admit, the footage is really up-close-and-personal, quite Wakeman-eske in its humour & comment. Behind the scenes is fun.
All-in-all I was a bit disappointed having purchased about 60 min. worth of DVD for € 29,50 (about $ 25,-), 10 min of which are cinematrailers.

Great to see though how Steve seems to be in charge of rehearsals, Rick rather dominant, Chris settling for a serving role ... or is that just my interpretation?
Absolute highlight for me is the odd-tempo, jazzed up version of Roundabout.
Amazing how Yes-magic still keeps coming through after 35 years in every way ... did we really count to onehundred?

So that's official now? The second will be a 35th Anniversary Tour DVD? I heard rumours about both a Full Circle and a 3th Anni DVD. I would have been happy with both of them. Can't wait for especially the 35th DVD. Anybody know where it's been filmed?
