OK, maybe I'm just being nitpicky here, but why is it that the songwriting credits vary from album to album? I mean for the same song. It's usually the order in which they are listed, but occasionally names are added or dropped.
The one that's aggravating me the most right now is: "And You And I: ii. eclipse."
On 'Yessongs' the credit is given to 'Bruford, Squire, Anderson,' but on the 'The Ultimate Yes: 35th Anniversary Edition' the credit is given to Jon Anderson/Bill Bruford/Steve Howe! So which is it?
Or, the order of credits on "House of Blues" seems to favor Anderson and Howe, moving Squire to the rear. Granted, sometimes they are alphabetical, but Anderson, Howe, Sherwood, Squire, White, Khoroshev?
In whose alphabet does K come after W?
Are these changes typos, corrections, or political infighting?

A reading of "YesStories" will reveal testimonies from band members implying that more than a little politics is involved ...

In the alphabet which places a higher priority on "regular" band members. At this point, Billy Sherwood was considered a proper member of the band, while Igor still was not. So he comes last.

As for the Bruford thing... heh heh, BB made the tragic mistake of actually speaking up about getting screwed by the others over credits and royalties, so they screwed him some more! "But it's just putting things in alphabetical order, Bill. I can't help it if that means Anderson always comes first!"

Politics? You betcha. This is Yes we're talking about. It's a band, a great band, but I don't think any two members have ever enjoyed equal status. Ask anyone but Jon.

I think Orbert speaks the truth here ...

Didn't Paul get sued by someone (Yoko?) for putting the McCartney/Lennon credit in his album?

According to CNN:
"Ono was reported to be considering legal action after McCartney switched the songwriter credits on the album [Back in the USA] to read "McCartney and Lennon," a move she said contravened a 40-year agreement.

Her spokesman Elliot Mintz told Reuters that Ono had repeatedly rejected McCartney's requests to reverse the credits on the grounds that a "deal is a deal." "

The deal to which she refers is a verbal agreement between two teenagers long before she met either . . .

But, what's more accurate re: And You And I: ii. eclipse? The original credit, or the 35th Annvrsry Album listing (order changed and Howe's name INSTEAD of Squire)?

Whoa, I didn't even notice that. I just noted the order change.

The cynic in me says that someone's trying to screw someone again, but I'm not so quick to jump to that conclusion regarding the "big three" (Jon/Steve/Chris). For all the personnel changes, I still think of them as the "heart" of Yes, and really don't want to think about it reaching a point where they're shafting each other. And yet I can see them doing it to Bill (who is one of my favorite drummers, so it's not my feelings about Bill).

Perhaps after all these years, they're "correcting" the credits that we've taken as correct for all these years?

To make things worse, in CTTE album (or at least in yesworld.com) it's stated as an Anderson/Bruford/Squire song.

So:
Close To The Edge: Anderson/Bruford/Squire
Yessongs : Bruford, Squire, Anderson
The Ultimate Yes: 35th Anniversary Edition: Jon Anderson/Bill Bruford/Steve Howe
