View Full Version : Finally
Angkor WHO??

"Finally, we put it to the test"
I wonder if this is a statement to all Yesfans. Saying,"Ha Ha, we're making a commercial song without Rabin!" It doesn't start out commercial though. It has a very strange choppy double-time beginning. I love how rough Anderson's voice sounds in this one. He almost sounds pissed.
"Radio be the master planner"-- great line.
"It's what you do regardless, it's what you do eventually"
And the song typically closes with a slow, beautiful, and optomistic ending.

Thanks Jan!
I had a great birthday, and I got the new book "Perpetual Change". What else could a Yeswhole want.
A show in Maine, perhaps?
Igor only lives 2.5 hours away; maybe he could come up and we could jam on some Ladder tunes.

Does anyone else agree with me that closing minutes of 'Finally' is one of Yes's finest but overlooked moments ?
It's overlooked of course because they strangely chose to glue it on the end of the weakest song on the album (imho).
I've often thought it would be great if they played just the closing section at the end of a concert after Roundabout (if they HAVE to keep on playing Roundabout that is).
Imagine the rising crescendos, the tingling up the spine and the standing ovation if they closed a show with this majestic music....

It's a great song. I love the version by Consipracy (called I Could), too. It's pretty different from the Yes version.

Yes missed a money maker with this song. I love the ending of 'Finally', but if they lopped that bit away and did a little nip/tuck on the rest of the song it could have been a smash hit.

Love it! The ending is truly magical! I suspect this is what earned Steve the nickname of 'Swami' from Mr. Fairburn.

Finally is an underrated gem on Ladder..
I love the whole:
"You can choose to stand
You can Choose to fall
Walk the final distance
You can have it all."
That album was SO powerful for me at such a rough time.
