According to Soundchaser.org. Trevor Rabin may be joining up with Foreigner. What do the fans think of this developement?

Rabin was in Foreigner once, kinda. Before Cinema, he joined Foreigner in rehearsals to be their keyboardist on tour. He wrote City of Love about him trying to find the rehearsal room in Harlem. :D

The way his name was just kinda tacked on in that article makes this sound iffy as far as this happening. The gig with this new line up happens July 25th, so we will see then. But ask this...why would someone who makes a lot more money scoring soundtracks than being a rock star, busy as hell with them and doesn't even have the time to finish his own future solo album go learn and play material from another band?? Somethin don't click about this, but we'll see...

Good question! I thought about that as well. Will July 25 have the answer? If only TR's website was up & running!

I just saw Lou Gramm here in my town on his solo tour. NO MENTION of show with his former band and Trevor Rabin.

If he does and obviously that's a big if do you think a Yes/Foreigner summer tour would spark interest? I'm not a Foreigner fan myself per se, but I can see the logic of putting the two together.
And hey, Ian McDonald, formerly of King Crimson was in Foreigner so there's so prog rock ties!!!

Maybe Trevor should look up Ian McDonald. Besides, he doesn't need Foreigner, he should have his own band if he wants to play live. He could play his own music. I would much rather see the Trevor Rabin Band than Foreigner.

Agreed, but Foreigner has a built in audience, so there are Market forces involved here. Let's presume he really wants to play live again. It still has to make economic sense to do so.

I totally understand your point but as you get older you look at the business side more and not just "I don't care, I'll just go for it." I don't know what their up to these days but I'm sure there's still fan base. Also, if TR still has relationship with those guys it makes that much more likely.
As a musician there are people I haven't played with for years but probably would again just due that familiarity.

Even if a Trevor Rabin tour, or a Rabbitt tour, could happen, it still would not have the drawing power of a Foreigner tour, at least in the United States. If he's doing it because he misses touring and the roar of the crowds, this is his best bang for the buck. Putting together a touring band and show yourself has got to be a huge pain in the ass. Joining an established band, even just as a sideman, can give a comparable rush, with much less headache.
At the end of it all, he just might end up with more money, too. Though I really don't think that's the primary motivation here, it can't hurt the equation. A Rabin or Rabbitt tour, today, would not even be guaranteed to break even. (How would they promote it? You'd hear a snip of "Owner", that characteristic guitar-synth sound, then the voiceover "Come hear the mastermind behind Owner of a Lonely Heart and... a few other pretty good songs! But not those particular songs because they're all owned by another band." No way.) With Foreigner, you've got a dozen or more sound bites that are instantly recognizeable, and plenty of yuppies who grew up on Foreigner with plenty of cash to spend on them, too.

Yeah me too! Although I'll take him anyway I can get him.
Also.. I seem to remember Trevor saying in an interview once that, "There's no room for two guitarists in a band that I'm in." So where would that leave him in Foreigner?

Foreigner's New Singer....
Author: Dave O
Date: 06-11-04 19:18
may be Brian Howe, formally of Bad Company. Check out Melodicrock.com for further. He sounds very much like Lou of old, but he certainly isn't Lou! Damn, I miss Lou already.

Here's the melodicrock.com scoop:
FOREIGNER - WHERE THINGS STAND RIGHT NOW:
Let's sort out the Foreigner mess a little further. It seems Lou Gramm is absolutely no longer in the band - preferring to set out on his own again, touring under the Lou Gramm Band and more interestingly, sometimes it seems billed as Foreigner, with original vocalist Lou Gramm (as was the case for a gig in Tijuana, Mexico this week).
Mick Jones did not fire him and said recently on air their relationship remains amicable.
I know other vocalists have been approached by band management to join Mick Jones in a new band line-up. Whether he names it Foreigner also remains to be seen. Former Bad Company singer Brian Howe confirmed to me he has approached.
Lou has recently said that he is planning to record a new solo album, and has stated in his local newspaper that he thinks it's doubtful he will sing with Foreigner again. Stay tuned...

God forbid he play with Foreigner! That would be a huge disappointment for me, being such a fan of Trevor's. Foreigner was one of my least favorite bands during that era, and I'm being nice saying that.
I can't believe it's true. He just talked about how Yes helped him to branch out, and that would be a large step backwards. He could get his own band and really cook if he wanted to, and be successful. Really, it's beyond me that he would do such a thing.

My son Eric loves Trevor's solo albums. He likes the Wolf album and also, Beginnings, and his album called Trevor Rabin.
He especially loves the songs "Stop Turn" and "Take Me To A Party" from Wolf. I think after hearing it all these years Trevor's music has grown on him. He has no choice but to like it.
