You're right on what they should open with. A totally perfect song to do with an Orchestra. Firebird Suite. They HAVE to open with that. Can't wait.

An orchestral Firebird Suite would be a natural way to start things off; anything else would seem like a missed opportunity. I think a work such as Awaken would be perfect for an orchestra, perhaps with a chorus for the parts that were originally recorded with choral accompaniment.

I really have not a clue and what I think they will play. They have played so many of the classics in the past couple tours. Good chance we wont hear the same old show closers FINALLY!

It doesn't matter to me so much which way the tour will be or which ones of the band members go on tour (as long as Jon is with them, of course). I only want to see them at least one time. I have a very stupid story for all of you. Last year they were on tour there. And I didn't only try to go there, cuz my mom hates them. I only didn't want and didn't have enough courage to go alone. But I can tell you one thing. The next time they come here I'll go. My mom only has to drive me there and fetch me again. But that's no problem for her. I hope.

Hi CattyKat,

I wouldn't worry about going to see Yes by yourself. I've done it plenty of times and the fact is you're never alone when you see Yes. The fans are wonderful and I think everyone is just so happy to be with people that can actually relate to matters Yes that there's always people to talk to. Definitely go no matter what, a Yes concert can change you life!

If you wonder who I am you can check out a bit about me in the introduce yourself thread.

I agree DO IT alone if you have to. When I go to a show I want to see my show in a way that there are no idiots sitting aroun dme yacking up a storm. Last summer I saw two yes shows, 2nd show in the grass, YIKES!!! WAY to loud, folks talking and carrying on. I always get seats in pavilon area when it is a outside show. Any show I try to get a seat up close where the FANS are sitting, folks like me that want to get into the show not the event. Sorry got off topic a bit...

I was thinking about the same thing with the Firebird Suite. How could they not take advantage of this oppostunity. I just got my tickets for the Hollywood bowl show. I can't wait!!

Does anyone know if this is a full blown tour, or jsut places they can get a orch. in with them?

You're a lucky pup, space_greg.. Still waiting to hear about a NW site, would think Alan would ensure coming up here.

Dontcha think with an orchestra, they'd HAVE to do No Opportunity? My other picks would include And You and I, and Awaken. I'll bet they could do a *****in' Gates, to boot.

Hey Mike

Maybe you could drive down to Concord, CA for the first show. I am actually tempted to go to the yescapade and show in Northern CA. But then, you should probably wait to see if they will book some shows in OR.

I agree that that they should begin with firebird suite.
Just heard the first commercial for YesSymphonic, here in minneapolis, at the orpheum, with the full "Yes Symphony Orchestra". Listed Jon, Chris, Steve & Alan.
No mention of a key player. No mention of prices.
Anyone heard what this is going to cost?

COST=A LOT!

In LA prices were $50 to $100. We got medium level seats that were $80.

My problem/dilemma is that I have a family reunion scheduled for 7/28, in Indiana - and my mom DOES turn 75 this year...looks like the deck's stacked against me. Just have to wait and see. Hey, Raiched - I see Clear Lake's only about 50 mi. from Grass Valley ;)

Greetings from NYC....Firebird Suite would sound incredible....but wait YESFANs....no one has mentioned......THE REMEMBERING! If Rick can't make it to the tour - an orchestra is a close second! Steve Howe dropped some hints during his solo tour that 1 song from Topographic has not been played since 1974. HOOPPEEFFUULLYY......

Having an orchestra along can give them an opportunity to do something really different, unlike anything we've seen before. Personally, I'd like to hear some songs from "Fish Out Of Water" since it had a lot of orchestration. Hopeless wish? Probably.

My hsuband and I and his mom are Paying $214 for box seats at the Bowl. He is a Hard Core Yes Fan. Is there such a thing? I'm changing my name as soon as my husband tell me how to spell Roann. That's what I want. He has to look at the inner sleeve of GOING FOR THE ONE.

For those of you who aren't familiar with all of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, there is a track which appears almost directly before the grand finale which appears in YesSongs. It's titled the Infernal Dance and is a Must Hear for all prog-rock fans. If the orchestra could back up to that point and follow through to the finale (with the band jumping in thereafter) it would give the orchestra a few more minutes to show us what they've got (almost like an opening act) and give us a great extra tune as well!

Got my opening night tix yesterday ($59 for Orchestra) at the venue's box office. 1st in line. You'll just kill me if I tell you which four seats I got....:ohhyeah:

The strangest thing happened to me this morning. As I awoke I heard Southside of the Sky playing in my head the at the part were Jon sings "were we ever colder on that day" I heard a full blown orchestra playing the music FF and the Basses were tracking chris's Bass part with the violins on on the melody.
What a wonderful dream!!!
I hope they do that song on the tour. If they don't I may just have to write my own south Side rendition complete with midi strings.
Some dreams you just have to chase.
Cheers,

The costs for the tickets in Minneapolis were EXPENSIVE!!
$58 for crappy seats, and $78 for regular ones.

I can GURANTEE to everyone that the confusion between the State and Orpheum theater is about to be cleared up.

I got tickets, the tickets say my row and seat #, and that it is at the STATE THEATRE. So only if the ticket is wrong, will the Orpheum have a sea of people trying to unlock their doors to get in.

But anyways, what if every ticket IS wrong, and as everyone is fihting over this, the band breaks into the Firebird for an empty audience, and .....

Interesting, in light of the correspondence I've been reading at Rick's fansite:

i wonder if rick thinks america is good enough for his fans
hear to hear his fingers hit those keys?

It is all about business. America is too big to do coast to coast without a
large corporate sponsor. Just look at the tours out there this summer, with
Pepsi, Coke, Budweiser, etc. sponsoring and paying the bills. Big Business
has taken over music in the US.
And then there are the surcharge fees that Ticketmaster adds on. Over $10 a
ticket. Half of what the cost of a ticket for Rick in the UK. BTW, the
facility fee over there is the equivalent of 75 cents.

Get Rick a sponsor and he would probably be happy to tour.

Also this:

...what do
> you think the chances are of him doing another US tour?

If he can be made a financially sound offer then I am sure he would go! He
loses money on the UK tours - about $20,000 even if every seat fills out -
which is why he has stopped them.

When he did New Gospels in California the churches worked on a collection
basis instead of selling tickets. If every person contributed just $5 they
would have have broken even. They didn't and supposed financial guarantees
weren't in place and Rick took the whole hit. Wiped out Hope Records and
nearly took him with it.

See why he is wary?

(In deference to my correspondent, I won't identify him except to say he has access to information about RW but is not personnally acquainted with him)

Also remember, it's not just the band and road crew this time, there is an orchestra, albeit local ones for each venue as I understand it, but still they won't be there out of the goodness of their hearts. So, whatever the market will bear, above and beyond the cost of expenses...

Ticket prices ranged from 15 to 50 in Philly. I guess we got off lucky compared to a lot of other cities. Sorry.

I got my tickets, but I think Ticketscrewer screwed me. At 2 minutes after 10, I got tickets in the second price level...about half way back. Just out of curiousity I went back to the website an hour later, and they offered me better seats. Say what? Oh well, I'm there. I've been up front plenty of times. Time to sit back and enjoy the light show.
