hey guys, i am searchin for roger's art. lookin for posters/prints. i've done many a search on the web, and always come up with the same couple that seem to be all that's out there. (yellow city) and (asia astra) ebay's ok sometimes, but the prices tend to go through the roof when everyone starts bidding. if ANYONE knows places that you can buy hard to find work from roger, PLEASE drop me a line either here, or at tranceofdancesjn@aol.com.
thanks!!

You asked this question on another thread. As I mentioned there, you can obtain a reasonable range of prints from his Sydney outlet (or at least you could a few months ago)

There's quite a few for sale right on his website www.rogerdean.com. Click on For Sale, and then Prints, and Rarities. Far from cheap tho.

A friend of mine runs a site called Roger Dean Kreative Concepts, which has some nice Dean prints and posters. These are all authorized Dean prints, posters, shirts, etc.
His site does not show everything he has to offer, so it's always a good idea to email him and ask if you are looking for something special. I have the playing cards PLUS the card case which Roger has never offered on his site. It's a must have for any Yes/Dean fan. The trading cards are also a rare item as they have been out of production for years. I have a full set myself.
Jud and his partner run the Roger Dean merchandise room at NEARfest, so all the signatures are authentic and the shirts and cards, etc. are legitimate.

yeah i remember...i posted this so others that might know other places might see it. i checked out that site, though (and this is the second time i have done it) i can't seem to find prices on these. also according to the prices i have seen in the past on prints i might have to stick with poster's...they're pretty expensive. thanks for the info again.

Yeah, well for a signed print it can get a tad pricey, but I picked up my Relayer print (which is much nicer quality than the poster) for $25 at NF and I am lucky enough to see Roger Dean at least once a year and I have him autograph it for free.
There is also another site that sells some Dean posters and cards and even bookmarks, called Pomegranate.com....check them out as well.

Hi
I visited the Grant Gallery exhibition a couple of weeks ago when I was over in NYC for the Garden show.
The big stuff is really expensive, but I got a signed print of the Yes logo 35th Anniversary version for $150. There are four colours, you can buy three of them as singles at $150 each, but the fourth you can only get if you buy the set of 4 for $500. These are about A4 paper sized.
There are similar sets of the previous tour logo and Asia logo, similar prices.
I didn't think $150 was too bad, especially with the current pund-dolar exchange rate.
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks,
John

No posters are for sale at the Gallery shows.
The cheapest are the prints Johneboy mentions.

Jason,
Definitely make the trip down to the Grant Gallery. It's a whole different experience seeing Roger's work up close and on a large canvas as opposed to scaled down for a CD insert. As an artist, you will really appreciate the intricacy of a lot of the pieces. I saw things in the original paintings on the wall that I never noticed on the cd or even the older album covers.
...and check out the Pomegranate site I posted above for a nice poster selection.

When the Topographic Oceans poster first came out many years ago the lettering was up top in the middle. Later, the lettering was no longer on it. My X ended up with all my Roger Dean posters. I had 'em all. (Damn her anyhow).

Hi Trance,
I went thru my archives to see what I had, and it appears I don't have a Tales poster anymore... is there any other poster you're looking for? I'd be glad to help.
If I'm gonna send you something, we have to trust on shipping. I'm not always keen on tht, but I guess we have no other option...
Tell me ok?
Love,

Seeing Roger's paintings up close is an amazing thing...
I had the pleasure of attending the San Fransisco Dean Exhibit last tour, and I was mesmerized by the detail...
Relayer: I own the litho of this one, and still... The original's coloring is much different than from the litho. A lot of salmon-coloring in the serpents, and I found that much of the original was actually done in pencil. This explains all the grays in the painting.
It was quite an amazing thing, falling into that original world of convoluted organic castles... Ever notice that one of the horses is riderless? The price of the hubris of war...
Andother amazing painting to see up-close and original is DRAMA.
There's the skeleton of a grounded ship on the far right border of the painting, which gives much of the scenery an altogether new meaning...
There was a sign just in the portico of the gallery that said, 'No photos or autographs, Please!' So I held onto my LP of TALES, and didn't ask.
While walking out of the gallery, Roger Dean asked me, 'Would you like that signed?'
'You Betcha!'
Fantastic. A good, kind, and TALENTED man: Roger, who I first met in Hawaii last year...
I've bumped into Roger Dean a few times now, and it's always the pleasure.
He IS the sixth member of YES you know..?
If you ever get the chance to see Dean's phantascapes in person, don't miss the chance.
A wonder and a delight.

I agree with Earl about Relayer and that he is the 6th member of Yes - such an integral part of the mix.
The other one that really caught my eye at the SFAE exhibition was Red Dragon - what an amazing complex piece! I could hardly take my eyes off it for the colour, texture and detail.

Jason,
I have a couple of items, one is a Beginnings poster, brand new still in plastic. Also I have ABWH plaque mounted signed by Jon, Bill and Steve. This is the poster that was on Regis & Kathie Lee when Bill and Steve appeared on the show promoting the Symphonic album. I was there! Also in mint condition.

Roger Dean has been closely related to the NearFest event since it started in 1999 and they have a few Dean items on their merchandise section for sale. That being T-shirts and programs for the most part but the print quality is very good at reasonable prices, sorry - no posters.

and also featured is a photo is of Annie Haslam meeting Roger Dean for the very first time. Quite a moment for the annals of progressive rock!

I wondered how long I had to be on this site before 'Greenslade' were mentioned. Over to another thread.
