It's sad to say............but I dont like it to much. It's missing the crunch of the rickenbacker and the whole thing lacks energy.I have never liked bills drumming anyways.I dont care how technical you are, I feel he lacks emotion in his playing.Jeff berlin's bass playing sounds muddy to me.Although I like the A B W H album.:worm:

The shows were fantastic. It had been a long time since ABWand H had been on stage together playing Yes music and the ticket sales reflected this fact. The concerts were jam packed with Yes classics and new classics too from the ABWH album.
However...........this live performance doesn't quite bring it out in all its glory. Tony Levin was sick and was replaced for one night by Bill Bruford's mate Jeff Berlin, who although clearly a great bass player, appared to be going through the motions. Tony Levin's flamboyant style was so much better on stage and it's a real shame he wasn't captured on this release. Typical Yes-style cock up!
The show's opening with Jon walking through the crowd and the band coming on one at a time was very theatrical, and a genuine departure from previous outings. The addition of the xtra musicians allowed SH to play more of the Yes tunes in their original format, esp AYAI and Roundabout, which up until this point had relied heavily on electric guitars replacing the acoustic parts, but overall they tended to hamper the sound.
Bill Bruford's drumming was too busy and too electronic for my taste and for me, the injection of cash from album sales just allowed him to go out and buy the biggest and flashest drum kit in the world. Nobody told him that all those electronic drums went out with Duran Duran though.
I bought this when it came out as a VHS tape and audio CD in a special HUGE numbered package and I still get joy from it. 7/10

I like the ABWH material better than the studio album, especially Brother of Mine, which is great. The Yes material is good. Interesting, anyway. I do miss Alan and Chris though.

I disagree; his playing on the album's version of Close To The Edge is powerful and emotional.
But, yes, I get what you're saying. The cerebral approach to drumming is a hard sell for me. Most of the time, anyway. My favorite drummers are usually anything but technicians. :)

Totally agree. I am very fond of the album, but the band really found the songs on stage. Plus, they tried classic material out in new arrangements; the acoustic "Owner" is a high point from every show on that tour that I've heard. The collection of strong, new material that they had coupled with energetic renditions of Yes classics make for a great listening experience.
