Got this from CD Universe and just listened to it for the first time today. In some ways, more of the same -- which is awfully good mainstream jazz with the BB twist on drums. But a couple differences that make it interesting:

Tim Garland, the new sax player, seems more of an equal partner. Strong playing on a variety of reeds, with a meatier, gutsier approach to playing than Clahar. Not attacking Patrick's work, he's great -- it's just that Garland has that extra oomph that comes with experience (among other credits, he was in Chick Corea's last large band, Origin)

For the first time with Earthworks II, BB reaches back into the past. Tracks include "My Heart Declares A Holiday" from the Bates/Ballamy Earthworks, "Seems Life A Lifetime Ago (Part 1)" from Feels Good to Me and both parts of "One Of A Kind"! The latter is especially good, evoking the original while putting the new band's distinctive stamp on the piece.

Well worth getting, whether you're into jazz or not. 3 1/2 stars out of 5.
