I just heard Mao Inhibitor, Igor Khoroshev's latest project. My verdict:

Complete garbage, and I NOW understand why he is out of Yes. How a person can play gates one second, and do techno keyboard loops and mediocre crap-music the next is beyond me!

Joe

Joe,

Don't forget that some music is produced for the current European market and oriented toward insertion into dance-club type markets, localized and controlled. Definitely not for the discriminating listener.

I think Yes emerged at a time when much of the West was still afraid of communism. But that's just my guess.

I guess the music isn't meant for yesfans, and since we are all such big yesfans we are aware of the release. But I can say it is definitely the worst solo album put out by any yes member past or present.

It's like TECHNO dance "music" with samples of people saying stuff like:
"Revolution" and other words that suggest they are "cool". It sounds EXACTLY like a 'Prodigy' rip off band. And 'Prodigy' sucks.

But that's MY opinion.

I happen to hate trance, techno, dance, and anything that rich designer-drug-taking rave-attending wanna-be musicians come up with. Just because music is good to dance to doesn't mean it's music. DJ's are going to make music even worse is wahat I think. Popular music went from bands like the eagles, Rolling stones, Yes, Beatles, Allman Brothers, etc... running the radio waves to personalities like Brittney Spears, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Rage..., etc... being considered "the best artists".
Dj's are only furthereing the cause.

Go to Mars music and check out the keyboard and dj section. Look at how little talent and musical know-how you need to create an intricate techno song using dj equipment and synths. It's scary.

Musicians aren't needed to make music anymore.

what's going to dissapear next?

Okay, I'm done *****ing now.
