OK...well, not really a "new" one...but Voiceprint (voiceprint.com) has released a remastered Boys Will Be Boys CD. Here's the info from the site:
Rabbitt were seen as being South Africa's equivalent of the Beatles in The seventies and in fact the band actually outsold the Beatles, which in this day and age seems incredible.
The band, Trevor Rabin, Neil Cloud and Ronnie Robot first came together under the name Conglomeration in 1968. However Trevor, along with other session musicians, had recorded a version of Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath under the name of Rabbitt and had a big hit with said song.
Conglomeration took on the name Rabbitt and Trevor, Neil Cloud and Ronnie Robot added Duncan Faure to the band. Rabbitt took on a 3 month residency at a club "The take it Easy" which turned into 9 months. By this time the band had a strong following and lines of people around the block waited every night to watch the band. The album contained mainly original material written by Trevor. A lot of the lyrics written by Patric Van Blerk. A rerecorded version of Locomotive Breath was included. The only unoriginal song. Boys will be boys was recorded as a three piece (Trevor,Neil,Ronnie). Although Duncan sang lead vocal on Hard ride. The album gained the band its first gold disc and also won prestigious Sarie music awards for both Trevor Rabin and Patric Van Blerk for arrangement and production duties. The band also won a Sarie award collectively for the album, which was declared the "Best Contemporary Music" album. The band were to go on to record two further albums, A Croak And A Grunt In The Night and also Rock Rabbitt although the latter was made without Trevor Rabin as he left the band in 1977. The bands were incredibly popular in their native South Africa and tours were incredibly successful.
Trevor Rabin went on to a highly successful career as a solo artist and as a member of Yes in the eighties and early nineties and more recently he has moved into film work scoring movies like Armageddon. Duncan Faure was briefly a member of the Bay City Rollers before embarking on a solo career. Ronnie is a record producer in South Africa, and Neil Cloud runs and owns a successful business in South Africa. This album is an important archive release for fans of Trevor Rabin and has been re mastered for this re issue.
To this day, Rabbitt remains South Africas' biggest musical phenomenon.
Speaking of Voiceprint...has anyone here heard what the "bonus" is that you would get if you sent in the tokens for the re-issued sol albums, 90124, and Live in LA?
