Anyone that has heard "Can't Look Away" knows that Trevor Rabin can sing, and I think he could easily do the Rabin era Yes songs live, but why? He has a huge following of his own music with Rabbit in south africa from what I understand, and his solo music is pretty amazing. I think if he did a tour of his own and Rabbit stuff that had a few of the Yes tunes in it it would be fantastic

His solo music is indeed pretty incredible (the 1989 album you mentioned, that is; the first three were pretty ordinary), complex and interesting and ABOUT SOMETHING ... but I'd love to hear him go all over the map, from Rabbitt to Yes and even his take on Hendrix (which is pretty unique) ...

Said it before, saying it again: I'd see him live, playing anything -- Yes, solo material, Rabbitt, soundtrack work, polka, Klezmer, what have you.

BTW, Elie Wiezel is one of my heroes!

I still think Trevor could have been the lead vocalist of Yes after Jon left right after Big Generator. They had people coming in to try out and offering people the job, when the man that could of done it was in the band. Let Jon have the name and go back to the name Cinema.

Despite worshipping the ground Mr. Rabin walks on, I actually agree with upbgirl. Jon is The Voice of Yes, for me. Having said that, though, I do lurrrve TR's voice, and certainly believe he could handle lead vocal duties.

I agree, the true voice of Yes is Jon. However, I think that if Jon would have stayed in ABWH for a second album and Union never happened, TR could have done lead vocals. Yea, people would of complained, but that would have been better than just hiring some lead singer from another group, which it sounds like they almost did, to come in and sing on a Yes album. THAT would have been a disaster.

Trevor's solo music is incredible. (I have all 5 of his albums) I wish he could have sung everything on 90125 and beyond. Jon has never done it for me. Sorry.

Cinderella, I'm a huge fan of Trevor's. I believe his contributions to Yes were invaluable. I think Talk is one of the best Yes albums ever. And I respect your admiration for him. He's a super, multi-talented musician.

However, that post, well, get ready. You're gonna hear about it. Just be gentle folks, and respect the nice new addition to Yesfans.

I wasn't going to be the bad guy and say anything first.

I'm surprised that no one else has tsk-tsked cinderella yet. Yesfans must be getting soft!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry. I think Jon is a terrific singer and I love to hear him interviewed. He such a nice guy. I just prefer Trevor.
Didn't mean to step on any toes.

No bashing, Cindi - today ;)

I do love alot of Trevor's stuff. He is indeed very talented, and obviously, he is much more business saavy than most of the members of Yes.

Okay, that all being said, I LOVE Yes's current lineup!

Me too! All the above Sheilers!

Wasn't Trevor going to be the lead vocalist of Cinema, until Jon came in to the mix, and it became a YES project?

I think Trevor is a great vocalist, and I would have enjoyed the original Cinema album, but Jon is Jon...

Still, I love Trevor. And he DOES do a lot of the lead vocals when he's playing in YES (Well, accompanied by Jon oftentimes, where they share the vocal: Aim High Shoot Low, Lift Me Up, etc etc...).

What I wish for, is the current line-up to continue, but for Trevor to do a solo-tour, mostly of his solo material, but with some of his YES-gems in the mix as well... I'd LOVE to hear a solo version of The Waiting. And he could do it, his range is that good.

Live from LA has his solo version of Owner of a Lonley Heart he did on the Can't Look Away tour. I read a review somewhere that said TR "strained" to reach some of Jon's vocal high points on the song, but listening to it I think he does a great job on it, with no straining on Jon's parts, to my ear. I think TR's vocals were overshadowed by his guitar playing. Let's see Steve Howe sing "Changes"!!!! Bloody hard song to sing, let alone play guitar to!
