I remember hearing Jon on Rockline a few years back (Symphonic probably) indirectly sort of dodging around the issue saying something about some members of the band starting to act like Rock stars and getting out of hand and it didn't fit well with the rest of the band.
I took it he was refering to Igor and his run-ins with the law and they thought that was a bad image for Yes. And perhaps Igor was a bit indignant and unapologetic.
I think it was a clash of personalities.

From what I've heard, he was too free with his hands on certain females on his last tour and, not unreasonably, they complained about this 'special attention'.

Upshot was he got binned.

It was the best for Yes that he had left them...he is a good keyboardist, but I don't like him as person in Yes.
