View Full Version : Worth Getting?
I own this on LP and had been hoping it and "Yesshoows" would get the Rhino treatment.
Does anyone know if the forthcoming box set is going to include much of this material? If not I'll grab the previous re-master, but if it will I'll wait for the box.

At this point in time, there is no way to know what will be on the box set, but I am thinking/hoping that most of it will be recordings that haven't been officially released before. You might want to take a wait and see attitude, but in the end, I think you should buy Yessongs.

I would also promote the idea of buying "Yessongs".
I got the re-mastered version and am quite happy with it.

Yessongs is definitely a must-own on CD.
I'm not crazy about the Gastwirt remaster, myself, but maybe it's harder to clean up live albums... But I'll bet the loving folks at Rhino could work their magic with it, based on what they've given us so far.
The supposed forthcoming box-set is supposed to have 3 CD's. I would hope that it's all previously-unreleased material, but I have wondered elsewhere why Yessongs and Yesshows haven't been remastered...

This album is definatly a must have; without a doubt, the standard for all prog rock live albums. Driving, strong and raw performances of some of the best songs the band has ever done, its perfect! up there with Genesis' Seconds Out easily.

You read my mind. I take the view that live albums reflect a bands musical vision more accurately than studio versions since live shows are one take, no overdubs.

When the boxed set was first mooted it was planned as 3 cds, of which Steve Howe said it would be about 2/3s unreleased stuff. This may have changed. I seem to remember reading(although I can't think where) that it was now going to be expanded to 4CDs, although I don't know what proportion would be unreleased stuff

I have the remastered (Ocean Digital?) version.
I like this album, as well as actually loving 'Yessongs'.
Yet, I have 'weeds' that I've traded for, on this very site, which I think of as superior.
The LIVE BOX could be the stuff though!
I imagine that things like Cleveland '79, Wembley '78, Anything from '80, Phoenix '02, Hawaii '03 and LA '04 will grace the finest live-set to ever be incarcerated in a square root box of rock and roll note.
Don't tell, but I like trading shows 'unofficially'.
But that's just me, I'll buy the boxed set, and I'm sure that I'll probably love it.
But Roger Dean MUST do the slipcase. As well as the cover. And there should be a HUGE booklet, with lots of new dirt, and cool looking pictures...
Autographed by the band, and numbered...
I don't ask for much... :ele:
