Most of my Yes friends I met on the Old Yeshoo chat that met its demise about 2 years ago. There are a few Prog chats but for some reason they don't get much activity. I think with the up coming Yes tour and others actually it is very nice to come back and get on and have a live chat with others about the show. Chats has the real time feel that I really like. Forums are ok but to remote for me. I am once again going to give it a try to start a chat, although I think the times have changed and people are less likely to spend time in a chat when they just post their ideas and go do something else in some kind of forum.

Well I do have a domain and some server space doing nothing and willing to dedicate them to a ProgChat. I think you will find it easy to use and fast.

I guess as a start it wouldn't be a bad idea to have some specific times that people agree to congregate and then see what happens from there. So if your interest, post when it would be convenient for you to meet the first few times.

It is pretty simple to log on and see how it work, even though at the moment it is unlikely that you will actually find someone to chat with.

http://barrym.net or just barrym.net

If it has some success I will buy a nice domain, something like Progchat.net

Let me know what your thinking.

One of the things I liked about the Yeshoo chat is that an entry would stay on the page even after you logged off. It was a way of leaving messages or just a quoted greeting which I would often do. Back then, Yes chat and forum sites were rare and it was just about the only place to congregate. Don't know if those magical days could be recreated but it sure would be worth a try.

And your right we have tried a couple of times to get something going, and it seems to be for whatever reason a time gone by.

The YesTalk chat works like you describe - messages will stay until they roll off. It's painfully slow however, and tends to kick people off a lot!

Our YesFans chat works well.

I'm also told there is a chat at www.progressiveears.com to discuss prog in general.

Hope some of that is useful!

If you start a chatroom that isnt on AOL or YAHOO chat system (JAVA) I'm there.
If you just open a community on MSN (People & Chat), you get a chatroom with it too.

Give it a try, see what you think. I am not really sure what was on the negative list.

I did miss you, I am sorry to say. Is that good or bad. It is quite fast, no pictures but who cares.

Old Relayer-When I get a minute, I'll surely stop in the progchat soon as I find the time..

prog music.. when i get a new disc, i want to hear others opinions/advice in a direct manner-I know you guys already have a chatroom here, but it DOES get very busy, and I think Old Realyer means *this* one is set up to discuss mainly MUSIC.. prog music..
think of it as more of a ''Discussion Room'' than a "Chat Room", maybe?
I'll see how fast it is, and just might join you soon!
i just got some new CD's to talk about!
