Hello from Kevin Silvia, everybody.

www.kevinsilvia.com is my freshly updated site ~ please visit! There's free streaming audio of lots of complete songs and even a video clip of one.

My new CD's up (the cover of which is, as of this writing, my avatar), and you can hear "Dropped a Dime" from it.

I've also posted a couple of original 'stories' for the first time.

Please sign the guestbook and say hi!

Kevin!

Don't know how I missed this thread until now ~

GREAT website, my friend....and really nice, uplifting music. You have a very unique voice.

I was overwhelmed to accidentally stumble across a link to Silvia Ministry through your site...we have something in common there also...music ministry! Luke 11:10 fer shure!!!
I'd be interested to hear what you're doing there, as well as more of your solo stuff. Maybe you'd be interested to hear Bueno, the faith-based band my husband co-founded, and for which I play keys. Would appreciate your feedback. www.buenotheband.com

Isn't Yesfans great?? Bringing together so many talented musicians and artists and poets and writers....I so enjoy checking out everyone's work...

Great job, Kevin....keep the faith, and keep on rockin, dude!! :)

Thank you Dawn! I'm trying to enjoy your music and stuck on my media player's refusal to cooperate!! :stick: I'll get there. God bless you, and thanks for listening! I'll get back to you on your stuff - I heard a clip of "King of Kings" when I first arrived at the site. Sounds great!

GIG ANNOUNCEMENT!

I just landed this gig in Rockland, MA at New Song Arts Center. Looks like I'll be playing mostly originals (for once!) ... I need to round up bodies because I don't think they have much of a house audience to speak of. I start at 7:30. Here's the link to their calendar, showing my name prominently on April 22.

Hey, maybe it'll go spiffily and I'll end up with a recording of it, eh?

www.SilviaBrothers.com!

The new Silvia Brothers (http://www.silviabrothers.com) website is up & running; please drop in and check it out!

My old site is still going too, and that's where the free tunes are at. :thumbup:

[I thought this'd be a perfect time to bump this thread since so many of you have that "We Love When We Play" CD. :D]

Hey, maybe it'll go spiffily and I'll end up with a recording of it, eh?I did, actually end up with a recording of that gig ... decent gig; hardly any audience though. That's the problem with audiences. Feast or famine. Famine if you're local, feast if your famous.

Just thought I'd bump this up since my sites have been updated.

My myspace features four Live tracks from this past January, while kevinsilvia.com features my four most recent solo tunes.

I'm currently focusing on my band's current album-in-the-works (Boat Chips: Attorney Jimmy - a six-disc album of all new, original stuff; over three years in the making :D), and I've got a couple other solo tunes up my sleeve - hoping to revamp kevinsilvia.com with new images and tunes sometime this summer.

Okay, welp ... I just realized I've rarely (if ever) brought up my short (and I mean short!) stories here, but this is the newest:

Automatic Door – Keep Moving

4/01/07

For my sister Joanne, who turns like a hundred years old today. Not a hundred, but it's a great many years no matter how you slice it.

~~~
As I was leaving the supermarket today I saw that sticker that seems to be at the center of every supermarket door window, as if to abide by some kind of supermarket law. It says "Automatic Door" and "Keep Moving" in black letters, and there's a bold black arrow pointing up and circled in green. You know the one.
This particular store's exit door is delayed, though … so I determined that if I were to actually keep moving as the sign instructs, I'd probably walk right into it. So there's a required pause, at least if you're walking at any reasonable speed.
As I passed through that door, feeling clever for not blindly following directions without question and thereby avoiding a collision, I saw that there was an upcoming, identical door. The true exit of the supermarket, not like that lesser pre-exit that I nearly assaulted. In just a few strides I crossed this metallic-brown no man's land of a room, stepping into the range of the motion sensor to this second automatic door.
It was identical except that it's sticker had been vandalized by none other than that same store's seafood department … someone from seafood had put a sticker that read "The Seafood Shop" directly over the words "Keep Moving", blocking that part out and leaving me free to choose whether I stop moving or not. Maybe this seafood character agrees with my thinking, walks at my pace.
I nodded to myself as I stepped out into the cool night air and headed for the car. "Right on, seafood guy," I thought.
Me playing Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together", Summer 2007!
I finally figured out how to update my website homepage with images & stuff, so this clip is on the front page of Kevinsilvia.com right now. 'Bout time I figure that out.
Actually I just added Dom's video from the Boston Gathering of "Why Drive a Tank" to my website, and the Mariah tune ... but can't myspace them cuz they're links, not files.
That's okay though ... there's a clip at myspace of me playing Pretenders' "Middle of the Road".
I just posted this in the "is anybody at myspace" thread, but what the hey. You only live once. Unless, you know, ... reincarnation.
I played a gig as a member of the backing band for my friend Spogga's CD release party on 11/28/07, Twin River's Lighthouse stage, Lincoln RI.
The photographer shot a few pics of me from that night & posted them on my comments page:
http://www.myspace.com/kevinsilvia
What's nice is I don't have many pics of me playing that Godin electric guitar I have; I love that thing, and it was serving me well that evening.
