He's done some collaborations as well, so you can count those too if you have them. Do not count duplicates on different media (i.e. LP, cassette, and CD of the same recording).
I have 10. I still haven't had the chance to get Skyline and 3 Ages of Magick, but really want to soon.

I have most of his solo projects, a good deal of his collaborative work and a few guest spot releases.
How many ? I've only got 10 fingers . . :-)

I have four. Turbulence, Grand Scheme of Things, Natural Timbre, and Skyline (which is amazing, btw). I do plan on expanding my solo works collection of all band members, so I have at least one from everyone.

Same as above, except for natural timbre, and I also have The Steve Howe Album (the best IMHO) and Beginings- oh and the live one, I think?

I have (in order with the best on the top):
1. Natural Timbre (his best solo album, if you like Steve acoustic, buy this one!)
2. The Steve Howe Album
3. Turbulence
4. Not necessarily acoustic
5. Beginnings
6. Grant scheme of things
7. Quantum guitar
I only have one album by Steve Howe : The Steve Howe Album on vinyl.
I don't listen to it anymore since I haven't got the hardware to play it. I remember having a shock at hearing Steve's voice for the first time... I definitely prefer when he plays the guitar only.

Try and get hold of Transportation, the one he did with the Ultravox keyboard player. It's classy

"The Grand Scheme of Things" (1993) is a MUST. Probably the best album after "Beginnings". Most of the album is with a whole band.

The Steve Howe Album (LP & CD)
fav song: "Surface Tension"
Turbulence (CD)

The Grand Sheme of Things (CD)

Transportation is an album by Billy Currie, who was the keyboard player with Ultravox. It is billed on the cover as 'with guest Steve Howe'. It is on the No Speak label and has the following catalogue numbers:
LP ILP 030
CD ILPCD 030
It was released in 1988 and has these tracks:with Steve's contributions in brackets
Airlift ( electric guitar)
Traveller (electric guitar, fretless bass)
Transporter (mandolin, steel guitar,Ukelele, Sitar, synth guitar
Rakaia River (none)
india (none)
Perfect Flight (Spanish Guitar)
Over0Soul (electric guitar)
English Home ( electric guitar, spanish guitar, fretless bass)
Steve co -wrote one track, Traveller, with Billy Currie.
It is a superb easy goping album. It has a great blend of mood synth pieces and some more rock orientated pieces, but the overall sound is perhaps like Vangelis/Mike Oldfield (IMHO).
If you can get a copy, do so, it's a forgotten part of Steve's output and well worth having. Billy's style suits Steve's really well.
Infact, there's a copy here:

Thanks a lot , Martin, to tell you the truth I really don't have any idea who this Billy Currie but I've heard about Ultravox and unfortunately I'm not so familiar with this band. Thanks again for the great info, I gotta check this out too, I'm a fan too of the, well,"earlier Vangelis" and mike oldfield, and after a few hours mike oldfield and some clippings of hatfield and the north are scheduled to show here on broadcast sattelite station here in Japan, my video is already set up to record this cool bands of the 70's...

One of my prized Steve possessions is the Bodast LP. I think the tracks later resurfaced on Mothballs, but this LP came out in 1981 on the Cherry Red label. It was apparently the first time the tracks had ever been released. For those who know the Bodast album, you'll be aware of the fragments of future YES music from Wurm and Close to the Edge that appeared on it. Interesting stuff!

I reckon essential Steve albums are:
1) The Steve Howe album - he tries to do every style possible in ten songs!! Indispensible.
2) Turbulence - buy this and forget Union.
3) Natural Timbre - the 'quiet night' album. Acoustic To Be Over is heaven.
4) Elements - I just got this. Production is fantastic. A range of styles. I don't know it backwards yet, but it sounds good.
5) Homebrew 1 & 2 - great to hear those original versions. How he didn't get a writing credit on To Be Over is a mystery to me.
6) Just buy them all. The guy is a hero!!

I have an intense desire right now to go out and buy them all... oof... I feel like I'm spending all the money in the world on Yes stuff. I have Beginnings, what should be my next purchases? I was thinking of going for Elements, Natural Timbre and the Steve Howe Album next. But gosh, that's three... and I still need to get Keys to Ascension. Damn! Why did Yes have to go and have such a long, prolific career? My pockets are not endless!

I'd certainly get Keys to Ascension next. Volume 2 anyway. 'Footprints' and 'Mind Drive' are two of their best songs ever (ever!). If you go out to buy one Steve Howe album, I'd make it The Steve Howe Album (see how easy that is to remember?). Don't be put off by Beginnings, he doesn't sing as much on the others!
If you can afford three, then I would say the three you mention are spot on.
Have fun,
Dafty
