I see Gates as an emotional rollercoaster. It makes you ponder, hits you with hate and fear, then concludes with a message of hope. Soon! Oh soon the light.

SUBTLE?!?!?

There's NOTHING subtle about "TGOD," it's totally in your face.

Which is what I like about it.

loud and abrasive is more like it, at least for most of the song

it grabs hold of you and doesn't let go for 22 minutes. It just loosens its grip a little at the soon part. I absoulutly love the vocals in this song, and pretty much everything else about it as well. And my god would this be a hard song to record. It took me and my band a lot of work to record 8 4 minute pop songs. I can't imagine how much work this would be.

I'd call it 'tension' rather than 'loud and abrasive,' but that's just me.

I like the tension. It's still a lot less 'abrasive' than one of my all-time favorites....King Crimson's "Red."

I think "Red" (the song) is a little bit overated. A good opener though.
