Sorry to say that Philadelphia's known radio DJ Ed Sciaky has died at the age of 55. He was a huge YESFAN. God bless ED!

Oh man.
This is really horrible.
He broke YES in America. The first to do it. And will be missed.

He sure did! Man I feel sick the DJ just told us on the radio. I feel as sad when George Harrison died. He was a true fan.

Apparently it was a heart attack. Helen Leicht who had worked with him at WIOQ said he had been sick but was feeling better recently.
We will certainly miss him.

Wow. I was never really fond of him personnally, but that is a terrible thing.
Members of the band will be very upset about this as well.

He was just at the philly Jon show and Jon dedicated a song to him.
This is sad news

I am shocked about this also. Ed was at the screening of Yesspeak at Riverview Theatre in Philadelphia on Monday night and introduced the evenings festivities. He seemed fine perhaps a little frail but his radio voice was the same as ever. I have long been a listener of Ed Sciaky on several of the Philadelphia stations that he has been with, including WMMR, WIOQ and currently WMGK. He had some great progressive music shows, on Sunday nights--the Classic Cafe and Sunday Night Alternative. He was of course one of the biggest Yes Fans. The guys appeared on his shows either in person or by phone often. I have recordings of several appearances from Ed's shows (two notable ones-a live performance by Jon of 3 tunes from Change We Must and interview with Steve playing cuts off of Not Necessarily Acoustic). I often saw Ed around town over the years and always tried to say hello. He was a giant in progressive rock radio and will be sorely missed.

This is soo sad. But a nice thing is that Jon dedicated him a song, as you said. Still, dear he was 55! I didnīt know him, but itīs sad that one who was such a fan and did so much for yes died. What bad news:-(
Wow, sad news! I was interviewed by him (cut from the broadcast) when I went to the OYE show at the Tower in 97. I remember him from the early 80s on MMR back when I lived in the area.

Definitely caught me/us by surprize.
Ed's contribution to Yes' success in America, and for the Philly area being the Yes Mecca of the world can not be underestimated.[B]
He was ALWAYS there promoting Yes material. He played interviews with Jon from Topographic for hours in 1987!
He interviewed Steve Howe live while debuting Jon's In The City of Angels with call-ins and Steve commenting on Jon's work!
He had the clout to play this stuff when Yes were not on the charts, in the area or even really together.
We could always count on him to break the info for us....
My catalog of Yes is overwhelming loaded with his radio broadcasts.
The news broadcast I heard stated he had a heart attack while hailing a taxi in NYC with his wife.
This is really sad. \\\
I find it very hard to image my life without his imput.
We all touch each other in such enormous ways.
I never met this man to say hello.
He will be fonding remembered by many in Philly, Yes, and other music circles.
