I was helping Mr. I'm 5 Years Old And I Can Do Everything By Myself pick out his clothes for school tomorrow. Without realizing it, I must have been singing "Sorrow (Your Heart)," because all of sudden Mr. I'm 5... is singing it as well. And he knows all the words! Almost in tune! I love that kid!

We were listening to the song in the car this AM and he started asking me, "What's a 'dowery'? What is 'tie the knot'?" Things are going to get complicated if I have to start explaining South African politics and cultural history!

Has he started picking up bass and/or guitar lines? My 4.5-year-old does that, as well as sings lyrics.

Not sure. He does play a mean air guitar, though. Brian May (Queen) is his favorite for that.

It's good to see that all children are not suffering from a cultural dearth. Well done.

He is a really smart boy. My seven yearold daughter has a big crush on Trevor. She wanted to marry him when she grew up. But when I told her he was already marry she ran to her room and salmed the door! Alas a nother heart broken!

Wow! She is way ahead of me. I didn't have a crush on Trevor until I was 13!

The same goes for me. I guess kids are more mature these days. But also may I add she took all the Yes/ Trevor Rabin CD and put it all in her room. I have not seen them in weeks!!!

My son still rocks!
Yesterday saw two important milestones --
1. I taught him how to play "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" on the guitar.
2. He got his first guitar-playing blister!
*wipes tear away* I'm so proud!

I don't want to drive the girls in the neighborhood crazy. But he does look ultracool in his shades.

Cool story about your son! It's so exciting when they pick up on things that you like. My son used to do that - he's at that age now (almost 13) where it's very uncool to like stuff your mom does, but I've circumvented that by listening to the current stuff with him - and even singing along! So yesterday, he opted for the CD I was playing, and the classic rock station! LOL

Yeah that's true, but when they reach 20 they get back to normal again.

That's so cool. This thread is no good for me:-) I begin to really want a baby:-) Well, I have a 5 months old cousin and it's really cool to watch him grow up. The Miracle of Life!
Keep these stories coming Jane.
You are right about kids being more mature these days. I wrote my first proposal when I was 5. I wrote: Do you want to marry me? And then I drew two boxes: one for yes and one for no. And the boy crossed no. When his mom saw that and thought it would break my heart she got angry on him. So he crossed the no out and wrote: MAYBE.
That was 10 years ago, maybe I should ask him whether he MAYBE still wants to MAYBE marry me:-)

Sadly, he is over his interest in TR/Yes. Maybe some day he'll "return."
These days he mostly listens to ZZ Top, Beck, Beastie Boys, and Nirvana, with an occasional (God help me) Fergie song thrown in.

I'm sure he'll return. At least he's still into Rock.

A little while ago while we were eating dinner, my older sons spontaneously air-band-ing "Smoke On The Water," and the baby started dancing in his high chair. I got it on video; very funny. My baby rocks!

Quick! Get that kid some intervention!
At least li'l Nathaniel bouncing to Smoke on the Water is a very good start. You're bringing them up good, girlfriend!

I guess an occasional Fergie song is a small price to pay .....
