Hi everyone, just a note that I have some more songs now available in the "Weed" format, some "single edit" versions of longer pieces, as well as 3 songs new to the weed format:

Chips Falling Where They May is an experimental, neo-classical chamber music sort of affair

I Don't Know / I Know is along the lines of "The Lost Meerkats", a little more subdued and Jazz-influenced

The Stranger's Tale is a minimalist sort of piece with a nice balance of variation with the repetition

These can be found at www.weedtunes.com (under Richard Dunlap), along with single edits of "Asterisk in Parentheses" and You and Me's "Zeno's Dilemma Part 1.999..."

Also have a short version of Reality Survey available at www.weedfilegarden.com (under You and Me).

Speaking of You an Me (my old band), they/I will be one of Lucky Fokker's featured artists tomorrow night (Wed 1/14) during the 9-10pm EST hour, check it out if you get the chance, you'll even get to hear my voice in a brief message.

Hi Kathi!

Yes, it can certainly be checked out for free. But I'm gradually moving away from offering unlimited free downloads of MP3 files (though I still have oodles of those available at this time) to putting my music in the "Weed" format.

With Weed files, you can listen to it for free 3 times. After that, you'll be asked to buy it. Weed files typically cost around a buck to 1.50 (the artist sets the price). 50% goes to the artist.

There's a small bit of free software one needs to download in order to purchase the files, and they give you $5 credit with the download, so right off one can buy about 5 songs for free.

Now here's one of the really different and cool things about Weed files:
not only can you share them legally and with the artist's blessing, but if those with whom you share them also buy them you get paid 20% of that sale. If they share them with someone who buys them, you get 10%. And if that person then shares it with someone who buys it, you get 5%. And the artist gets 50% of all those sales.

It's really a revolution in music distribution, putting it into the hands of the fans and giving artists about the best deal they can find anywhere, plus the freedom to distribute their files in a wide variety of ways: websites, P2P file sharing, email, CD-ROM, etc.

Once you buy a file, you can burn it to a regular CD-R or whatever for your personal use. But if you share it, it should stay in the weed format of course.

This is a cool thing, I predict you'll be hearing about it soon not just from me hyping it.
